2024 Girls Lax WCAC ISL Outlook

Why are you only asking about GC? When was the last time SR sent a girl to play lacrosse at an Ivy? Is SJC a better lacrosse program to send your daughter to an Ivy than SR?

Check the thread; started with a GCer saying SJC had “inclusive” academic standards. The school is obviously doing something right to have this many kids admitted to ivies. Reasonable to ask how many ivy commits GC has sent when their reps are questioning the academic strength of SJC.

Who cares

A lot do actually

A lot of people care if GC players go to Ivy League schools? I don’t think so.

Sure they do. Players and parents chasing ivies factor HS decisions on a school’s ivy commit track record. Clubs get them recruited, we all know that. But parents want assurance the HS school will challenge the student / player academically so that she will be in the best position for ivy admission eligibility come recruiting time, especially now that ivies are heading back to standardized testing requirements. Schools with little / no history of sending kids to ivy schools may not be the best fit for players who want this track.

GC coach has as much to do with recruiting as many clubs, unlike a lot of HS coaches.

Also: GC has has many currently playing in the Ivy league as SJC right now. Except, GC alum is still in the NCAA tournament.

GC has one at Penn. Where are the others?

He isn’t getting them to the ivies, that’s for sure.

Except said alum plays HS and club for him so yes, he is. We know you SJC people are highly jealous of all of the success of GC. It's okay.

Claim is “many” GC players are at ivies. Other than one at Penn, where are the others?

I do want this to stop, but am curious about inclusive academic standards at SJC. What does that even mean??

I guess it means that the acceptance rate is higher than Potomac's or Sidwell's; maybe a bit higher than Visi's. 1200 applications for 350 spots is not bad for a high school. No clue what it means relative to GC or SR...

SJC parents are grasping at straws. You all had great talent in the '23 and '24 classes, but will have no trophies to show for it. Yes, you had a 2-year run where some girls went to Ivies. Congratulations. But the talent pool has now run dry. Other schools who actually win also send their schools to very great schools. Just move on and stop trying to play the Ivy card.

Funny how the thread so easily moved away from the SR Visi game, and only commented on how the 3 Visi middies were selfish. Let’s talk about the hi level lacrosse and give SR credit for a good game. My daughter goes to a VA public school and we went. SR scored 4 of the last 5 goals. They played as a team and everyone contributed.

Three girls from local schools starting on Yale elite 8 team. One is also the captain. Not too shabby.

Nice try SR mom or dad. Everyone contributed especially the UNC commit who scored half the goals. Stop fishing.

The focus on Ivies shows how out of touch the parents in here are.
