| I could not find the list in that link but I'm surprised DC is only #5. Where are people any ruder??? |
|
1 LA
2 NY 3 Philly 4 Miami The link worked for me. Right above the article and under the tag *America's Rudest Cities* there's a *Next* and a *Back* button that lets you scroll through the list. |
| I dunno. I think most metro areas are inundated with rude people. Can't really say there is a difference between LA and DC for that. |
| Fuck you. |
| Huh. I think DC is WAY ruder than Philly. People in Philly are brusque and often crude, but there's an underlying friendliness that I never had any trouble accessing. Here, I am confounded by impenetrable dead-eyed apathy at every turn. |
I disagree. I lived in Chicago for 10 year and people there are waaaaay nicer than they are here. But apparently DC and Chicago tie for worst traffic. |
this made me laugh.

PP here. I also lived in Chicago and people in the city are pretty darn rude to non-natives for Midwesterners (I know, that is a stereotype but they usually have a good rep for being nice and friendly). I think they can be welcoming if you are a native or are not a temporary resident and will make it your home. |

My first reaction OP, how did it not get #1?!?!?! This list has got to be all wrong. I'm surprised a local hasn't chimed in with NYC yet. They really have it for NYC LOL! |
I can see that. I moved to WI after I lived in Chicago and people in WI are ridiculously nice But as far as large cities go, Chicago isn't so bad-not like here! Though I wasn't born and raised in Chicago, my dad's family is from there so maybe I'm somewhat "native", plus I taught at a pretty rough Chicago public high school for a number of years so I guess I got used to the attitude.

| I hate all the profanity in DC. people in the office drop F bombs without thinking, I hear it all the time in regular conversation and on the highways ... just a more course and less civilized way to live compared to where I am from. |
|
"Less civilized" PP? Boy are you generous with words! How about anti-civilized? Or just plain primitive? Or anti/a-social? Examples I have seen just this week: The snifflier than thou attitude (lost count) Speeding up to make sure the next guy doesn't get to his/her destination and/or refusing to let someone into traffic when you are not moving anyway Slamming the door in one's face just to make a rather empty point The funny looks that make the looker seem absolutely ridiculous when every one else is simply going about their business (taking their turn in line, for example) Pretending you don't notice any of these or other behaviors considered rude in just about any other city Wow, these behaviors just say so much about the rude people, don't they? Interesting! |
Oh stop being so goddamned sensitive. |
| we moved here about 2 years ago and it took the first few months for me to get used to the "rudeness". Clerks in stores, waitstaff in restaurants, don't get me started on traffic behavior....I have just come to accept it and now know that if I'm in the wrong lane....I'm screwed. The very sad thing is the longer I'm here, the more I feel like I've adopted the same attitudes as much as I try not to. |
