White supremacy is a major problem and we can show our community that we're better than to accept the status quo.

It's time to rebrand. Let's be better.

That’s a great idea on both subjects. However, LB only cares about telling her history and that of the club. It will fall on deaf ears until one of her cohorts on the board push her hand. LB and Dan Snyder have a lot in common. Maybe change is in the air for both clubs.

Although, I agree w the rebranding of the club name, would that help bring in more players? Probably not. What are some solutions the club could do to increase it’s player pool? DC’s team is decent and competes but how can they attract new players? I don’t want to hear the COVID excuse as players from last year either came back or left. Are the better players planning to leave again?

Maybe they should just merge with Alexandria and then they can call themselves Alexandria

Looking for realistic ideas. We all know that LB is never going to relinquish her role and merge with another club.

it won't happen. maybe the snag some SYC or Alexandria kids who want to move from a third to a first team or some Gunston kids who want to play CCL, but that's just at the margins. They aren't a draw

Why are we talking about bringing players in? I'm sorry but is that an admission that the academy isn't working? Why would we need players in at all?

There's ZERO accountability from LC and I'm now going to keep this thread at the top of DCUM. 100 pages of comments, most of which are discontent, and there's been no discussion of the waste of thousands of dollars.

Are you assuming LC is going to remain as a director?

because academy only works if there are enough kids to field multiple teams and if enough of those kids are good enough to win. The whole point of academy is that it allows kids to float up or down based on ability- but that doesn't work if there is only one team. Also, good luck convincing kids to leave their current teams for a nebulous 'academy' offer when every other club offers based on the team

Changing the name because it's the right thing to do is the point--has nothing to do with expanding the player pool.

Didn’t say it wasn’t the right thing to do, it is. Question is how to improve the club’s player pool. Going to be hard to be every be anything significant with the current size.

Caveat: left the club two years ag (as did my entire DS's team); so I may be a little biased in what could be considered good or bad. But I've got some friends down there in Hoo-ville and it seems to be there's some bad news coming. I don't think many of the parents are expecting it, and it certainly seems as though several in leadership don't care as well.

So the discussions about 'how to grow the player pool' seem a little short-sighted to me. But, I guess if you trust the 2-year plan that has so far led LMVSC to this current situation then there's nothing to worry.

Well its going to be a double whammy to improve the player pools when the better players keep leaving year to year. If you cant retain and recruit players you are always going to be behind. Hence why LMVSC cannot put teams up in CCL. If they were smart they would spend some time rebuilding, making a better brand, and invest in quality coaches. Sadly I think the damage is done.

Do you mind explaining what you think is coming down this way? Rumors aren't too far from the truth.

I'll wait. Don't want FCV parents screaming 'fake news!' at everything like they did with Arlington.
