Here are the details. Riverside scored 10 seconds into the game and it was never competitive. Oakmont scored to make it 6-1 and one of the kids yelled - we’re back! Well not so much. It was 11-1 at the half. Teams cannot deal with Riverside #8, #24, #23, #2. Too much scoring depth. The D does not give up goals when teams have run their offense against a set D. The goalie is good as well. Finally - for Oakton - I am not sure which game the freshman played in JV or Varsity - but if they played in the JV game - it was a tie. So when one considers Riverside has 16 Juniors on the Varsity roster - Riverside is set for years to come.

Riverside is the class of Virginia public school lacrosse.

Who won 5a last year?

Surely it was 4 loss Riverside, right?

Who won the 5 years before that?

Indy played a weak team yesterday and ran up 17 goals, which seems to be their normal way of doing things. But until they beat a good team, why would they be in the discussion with the proven teams?.

Because, while just a scrimmage, Indy won 9-1 over Madison and was the dominate team.

Absolute coin flip of a game. Robinson came out hot and were up 3-1 early in the 2nd. Madison then scored 3 goals in ~3 minutes and went into half 4-3. 2nd half was 1-1 overall for Warhawk 5-4 victory. #5 Lynchburg commit was phenomenal tonight, even against Penn State commit. Robinson controlled the faceoffs but 11 LSM for Madison caused a lot of 50/50s at the X. #8 York commit for Robo looked really good as well. #14 was the best player on the field for Robinson- 3 goals and the offense ran through him. Goalie change for Madison at halftime from the Senior to the Landon transfer. Night and day difference, 2nd half goalie was lights out.

It’ll be a lot of fun to see these teams play later into the year and they will likely see each other again in June. It’s a clear three headed monster in 6A between Indy, Madison, Robo. Indy seems to be the team to beat right now but there is opportunity for that gap to close as Madison/Robinson have the two best coaches in the state. Both teams missing key players as well. We’re in for a fun one this year.

Thanks for the write-up, sounds like awesome game. One quick question - and forgive if dumb - but how does one transfer from Landon to public school? they already happened to live in Madison district?

Indy beat Madison in a scrimmage

the team that is afraid to schedule Riverside, Robinson, Madison, Langley, Yorktown, etc. this year so that nobody takes them seriously.

Laughable. Riverside coach asked not to play Indy this year(probably bc he hates DW). As for the other 6A teams, it could be a lot of different reasons. There are teams that have to be scheduled, other teams that have traditionally been on their schedule, first year in 6A...etc. Indy is a strong team again this year and will be competitive. They will have to earn it as the season goes on but the comment about no one takes them seriously? Maybe Riverslide should have taken them more seriously when they didn't make States last year. I know the players did but probably not their horrible, entitled parents.

Battlefield can’t catch and throw and caused at least 5 turnover and YT profited off that. Great game from both teams but no doubt YT played their hearts out.

No doubt? YT is lucky the score wasn’t 8-1 end of first. So many bad takes. And then they gave up 2 in the final minutes and nearly gave up the third. Play that game 10 times and it’s a toss up.
Least obvious battlefield parent.

Yes, not a parent of Madison, but for them to transfer they would have to be from district unless they have a parent working in Fcps.

Meh. The game was 2-1 Indy at the halfway point. Madison played second and third string players and several guys who are on the JV team the whole second half, while Independence kept their starters in the entire game and had a number of players who never saw the field, despite it being a preseason scrimmage.

Huh. So lights out goalie - good enough to have aspirations to play for top program like Landon - just happened to live in Madison district? Funny how that doesn't seem to happen for Falls Church or Annadale or other schools..

lol how many more states does Riverside have to win? I don’t think they need to prove anything anymore.

Because they finally beat Riverside after 8 tries by 1 goal so it catapulted them ahead of everyone even though people say Riverside isn’t good and they arnt ranked anywhere. It’s a confusing situation.

OK, so starters on starters, Indy was a bit better. Which makes sense that Indy would be ranked alongside Madison and Robinson. You can't seriously argue that Indy is not in the top three given how weak the whole class is this year. I have them at #1 for now, but we will see.

To be clear, I think Indy totally deserves to be in the same tier as Madison and Robinson, and maybe even the favorite of the three. My point was just that the 9-1 score is misleading.

Why would a really good goalie want to play for Annandale or Falls Church LOL
