You should look elsewhere.

If he's trying out for 2019 team he should expect stiff competition for a spot on orange. If he makes orange it would be worth doing. If he doesn't make orange my advice would be to try another club like Vlc or cavaliers or top caliber depending on your location.

It will be interesting to see how the MadLax brand appeals to families in Maryland

FreedomLax in Great Falls would have been another possibility but they ceased operations this past week. No doubt those families are scrambling to identify other tryout options.

Freedom lax was a VA based travel program designed to funnel kids into Gonzaga

When did the announcement go out? What is the backstory? Where are most boys going to end up?

Um, no. The guy who started it is a Gonzaga assistant coach, but it was not designed to send kids there. If you ever saw any of their teams, none of the kids in that program would ever see the field at Gonzaga.

Freedom lax was started by a couple of guys formerly associated with VLC who wanted to run a program that didn't cut kids who'd been in the VLC program before Crabs bought them and turned it into one team per age group all star team mentality. It is a club that gives kids who wanted to keep participating and playing the game who'd otherwise have been cut out from club lacrosse. Of course, that was then and this is now. VLC hardly is the elite for club teams at the youth level. Madlax has just taken over that and other clubs are getting more organized and going stronger.

Former Freedom parent here. It is true that it was a club for kids who just wanted to get better and were probably not good enough for some of the other clubs. Sad it folded.

We were at VLC tryouts yesterday and there were a ton of kids. Saw several Madlax helmets. The talent was excellent.
