Just throwing out a fun topic to get everyone over "hump day" Wednesday... How many of you have/had intuition about what gender your baby was, and were you right? When I first found out I was pregnant, I felt strongly that it was a boy. However, in every single dream I have had, the baby has been a girl. Now lately, I've been kind of feeling like I am having a girl. We have our 20 week u/s in a few weeks-- guess I will know then! I'm not sure that I believe in gender intuition now that I am flip-flopping! ![]() |
I was desperate for a boy (I know, I should just have wanted a healthy baby) but knew right away I was having a girl because I was so sick, and of course I was right. Now I couldn't imagine life with anything other than my rock star little girl. |
you can be equally sick & get a boy. My co-worker was sick her whole 9 months and she had a big boy. |
From the very beginning of my first pregnancy, I was convinced it was a boy. I don't know what it was, I just "knew." When I was about 20 weeks or so, I had a prenatal massage and the therapist got a strong girl vibe, so I started to doubt myself. We found out a few weeks later it was a boy. I never had any dreams about holding an actual baby (I was always giving birth to puppies and ducks and other bizarre things in my dreams, never people), so I can't speak to whether that part could be true.
I'm pregnant with #2 now and am having a similar boy feeling. We'll find out eventually . . . . Good luck! |
No vibes here. We did not find out the sex on either baby. EVERYONE told me I was having a boy - from a woman in the check-out line at Giant, woman at salad bar at work, Starbuck's baristas. A woman at our church said she had a "gift" for detecting the sex and she predicted I'd have a boy - both times. Well - I have two girls -- go figure. |
i thought it was a boy and so did my husband. WRONG. it's a girl. hopefully this doesn't mean my mother's intuition will be wrong all the time! |
I just "knew" it was a boy, too. My daughter will be 6 soon.
I am not trying to figure out the gender of this one. I'll know eventually. |
15:28-- OP here-- your post made me laugh. There is a lady at my office who claims to have that "gift" too-- she is saying its a girl. However, DH's grandma called on Mother's Day and said that she "knows" we are having a boy. (Now, I think this is really funny since DH's grandmother has not even seen me since I have gotten pregnant, so how would she know???) DH thinks it is a girl. I was *so* sure that it was a boy, that I bet him a Wii on it. (He has to do yardwork for me if I am right.) I've been planning the shrubs that I want re-arranged out back, but now I am wondering if he will be sitting on the couch in a few weeks playing his new video games. (ha ha) We find out three weeks from tomorrow, but last night we were thinking that the guessing game has been so much fun, it might be better for it to be a surprise at the birth. Not sure yet what we will do! |
Everyone kept telling me it was a girl, but my intuition was that it was a boy. Plus, I felt kicks very early on and assumed the level of activity was correlated with a boy. |
My instincts said my first was a girl (I was desperately hoping for a girl so perhaps it was just wishful thinking). I remember I even put on something pink when I had my 20 wk US (as if that would help!). This time I again had a strong feeling that it was a girl too and the amnio results confirmed that.
I can relate to the giving birth to puppy's etc ... isn't that weird? Has anyone of you ever looked at the Chinese birth calendar? I don't know if it is anything to go by but it was right with both my pregancies and also a lot of my friends! Fun to see anyway! *** To use the Chinese pregnancy calendar, you will go down the column until you get to the age of the mother at the time of conception (it could be different if the mother has had a birthday since conceiving). Then go across that row until you get to the month the baby was conceived. If the square is blue, it’s a boy! If the square is pink a girl is on the way! the chinese gender predictor only 'works' if you also use your chinese age which is different thatn your ameircan age. the chinese year runs differently and the chinese start counting from 1 not 0.
this website calculates your chinese age at conception: http://www.thelaboroflove.com/chart/pred.html Just for entertainment I had a ton of people try it and it was only wrong for two people. And you can do yourself, etc... |
The Chinese predictor is total bull, whichever age (US or Chinese) you use. It's wrong in my case! |
Aw, be nice. Sure, ALL traditional sex predictors are bull. We know that. It's entertainment. But hey, they're right 50% of the time, I'm sure!
In my case, I didn't have any intuition whatsoever. I swung back and forth with little inklings, probably a dozen times. Everyone around me was convinced it was a boy, because I carried high and out front. The cleaning lady in my office acted like it was a total foregone conclusion. And, since we decided to wait for the surprise, we couldn't confirm or deny til the moment SHE made her appearance. However, a friend of mine was completely sure she was having a boy. She had this bone-deep certainty, and when the u/s tech couldn't get a peek between the legs, she didn't care, because she already knew it was a boy. It was the shock of their life when their little girl was born. |
I was convinced I was having a girl, and I was right. (At least, I think so -- the ultrasound said so, but I haven't given birth yet so I guess there is still a chance that the u/s tech and I were both wrong!) |
As soon as I found out I was pregnant, I was sure it was a boy, and I was right. At the ultrasound when we found out, before the doc told us, he asked what I thought, and I said boy. When he confirmed I was right, he said that in his personal experience, a very high percentage of the moms he asks are right in their hunch.
