Recommend Your Gas Range?

My dear husband is determined to get a better, faster, stronger gas range for the new year. We want it to fit in the existing 30 inch slot in the countertop (the kitchen was remodeled before we bought the house and redoing the counters and cabinets would be a waste). We want at least one or two very high BTU burners for fast boiling, etc. (we're also going to get an exhaust vent). Has anyone had experience with those higher-end models that are $1,800-$5,000? There seem to be no consumer reviews out there on the internet ... thanks

I like thermador cooktops (not sure they have a range) but my friend got a wolf range 30" and loves it.

Hmm...not sure if this is what you want (given your price range) but we have a Hot Point - it was less than $1000 and it has one high speed burner, one simmer burner and two medium sized burners. I'm not sure what the higher end ones give you (not being snarky, I really don't know - there might be a huge difference).

HAve an electrolux with five burners, one of them 18K BTUs. I love it. Give me something and I will sear it. sssst!

We have a GE profile which I really like. I forget the BTUs on one of the burners but it is extremely hot - great for wok-cooking.

like our GE cafe!

I have a kitchaid superba and love it BUT the material that the top is made out of is the biggest pain the butt to clean. It's this black and streaks all the time. Clean up takes forever and sometimes I don't want to cook because I don't want to clean the stupid thing. Otherwise I love it.

Check out both Bluestar and Capital ranges they both make really nice ranges.

Another vote for Thermador! We're putting one in our new kitchen because we love the one my parents have so much. Their ranges and cooktops are awesome. The high cookpoint is 18,000 BTUs, which is incredibly high and they have a an Extra-Low simmer, which other brands don't have. A friend of mine with a Viking complains that the lowest setting is still too high for a simmer.

We bought ours at Appliance Distributors Unlimited in Takoma Park and their prices were lower than what we found on the Internet.

13:14 again. I should also add that we currently have a GE profile. It's fine, but I wouldn't consider it "better, faster, or stronger" than anything we've had in the past. It just seems like your average gas range. We're excited to be upgrading to the Thermador.

I have a Maytag Gemini that has a super high BTU burner and an extra low simmer and a double oven. I love it and it was not super expensive.

Thermador-Had a Ge Profile. It was so poorly designed. I couldn't fit two pots together unless the were small. The burners were too close together.

Never had quality problems with the range but every other GE Profile appliance has been replaced in the past 10 years.

I have this one and hate it. The oven is very uneven, it's broken several times in the seven years we've had it, and one of the burners is now not firing the way it used to.

I will never buy a major KitchenAid appliance again.

Miele is the best, if you want to break the bank.

I have a Miele gas cooktop and I hate it. The simmer setting is too high, the flame goes out if you walk by quickly, and it is a pain to fix (very few authorized repair dealers). Can't wait to replace it.
