Ya, we are retiring it over to Reddit. Where other instagram "influencers" get called out for being phonies and lose all their sponsors. If you want to "retire" this, then just go somewhere else. I'm going to be here, as a half Costa Rican person that NEVER used my "ethnicity" to sell books or shill products, or try to get an advantage with a job application, college application, or anything else. I'm gonna hold a grudge on this one.

That’s an entirely different conversation. Also she’s not claiming to be Latin American, shes claiming a white European origin. This thread was conceived as a rich lady being addicted to birthing, after multiple miscarriages.

She is fascinating. I don’t really hate her, good for her for getting that bread, but the lengths she’s gone to to pretend to be someone else are beyond. I also have no doubt that she has people reading every word of this. You don’t keep a secret that big out of the public eye without being extremely vigilant.

The only thing I can’t handle is her VOICE. It’s so grating.

How does she use her ethnicity to shill fitness/yoga/wellness crap? This is a reach. Speaking Spanish and claiming to be from Spain don't give her an advantage in that market. She's weird, I'll give her that, but otherwise don't see the point of getting outraged.

Yeah I think Hilaria is psycho and a 100% phony but I really don't get the argument that she has tried to capitalize from any ethnicity or Hispanic-ness or has taken anything from women of color when she's not one. She has lied about nationality, but she never claimed some minority status or that she was anything but white. If anything, her attempts to seem Spanish are to add a more "sophisticated" European flare to herself when she's just a "boring" American.

I say this as a born and bred Latina. Her lying is nuts, but it's a stretch to be upset that she is taking anything from or hurting others because of it.

It's pretty clear that the person hell bent on taking her down is just using the cultural appropriation to try to whip people up into as much of a frenzy as she is. This just all seems like some personal vendetta which is why there just isn't much traction in joining the cause to out an instagram famewhore who is guilty of painting a not too realistic version of her life. I'm pretty sure they all do that whether it be posing with clothes/bags they pass off as theirs but still have tags attached because they have every intention of returning them, pretending to be on vacation when they're not, and wearing a full face of makeup and pretending they just rolled out of bed. It's all a lie to some extent. Some worse than others.

Actually, if that is accurate, it means she's also a racist. She doesn't want "brown" peasant Mestizo tier Latina status, she wants to steal "white" sophisticated European Spanish clout and profit off appealing to brown Latin-Americans (advertising, marketability).
