My hunch is based on the following 1) google pictures of her with the finger bandages, they are from multiple years. clear signs of bulimia. 2) she looked noticeably thinner in Sept-Nov of 2023 vs earlier in the year 3) if you take the car pic with her mom as real, her face appears to have gained weight 4) there is sensitivity with revealing bulimia / eating disorders because of Diana 5) eating disorder treatments take a long time and are consistent with the timeframe originally given

Also no one visited her in the hospital. Not Wills. Not Mom or Dad. Not Pippa. No one.

She doesn’t owe anyone info about her health or pictures of what she currently looks like. I would guess that she’s terribly self-conscious right now about the visual consequences of her health issues.

Listen PP, I get that you are giving her empathy. But the reality is that this is EXACTLY what she signed up for. It's why multiple other exes of both princes abandoned the relationships. It's why MM had a nervous breakdown and basically fled the country. It is a very difficult impossible standard to uphold but it IS the standard and it is one that KM understood very very clearly before going into this arrangement. Which is why she was out there hours after giving birth. She gets it.

The argument isn't about whether or not that is right or reasonable its about what changed. Even with the eating disorder theory there remains deep questions. The fact that she appears completely unwilling to take ANY current photo speaks to something being deeply wrong. Puffiness and weight gain could be photoshopped well and easily and not result in the photo being flagged by news agencies. She could pose in a way that did not show her stomach at all and the public would understand. Her not showing her face is INTENTIONAL. And short of her having had a major facial trauma/injury I don't see any possible explanation beyond her refusal to show it. And outright refusal to show her face, to me, seems like a bargaining chip.

If this was an eating disorder thing she would want the speculation to go away and she would work with them to create some photo that she could live with that would get things to die down. She KNOWS the public wants proof of life. She's saying no. And that is not the KM we have known for the last like, 20 years. So what changed?

Pp here. Yes, exactly. She did sign up for this and has been a good sport until now. Unfortunately, I think what changed is that there has been an unexpected medical diagnosis of a chronic condition. And they don’t know how to handle it and are probably apprehensive, as anyone would be. She’s young, has small children, and has always been beautiful. Maybe she thinks she doesn’t look beautiful? That worked until yesterday. Issuing a doctored photo trying to make something from 5 months ago seem current and then having this car shot with her looking out of frame? That does not pass muster. Because they can ALMOST CERTAINLY take a current photo and photoshop it enough to meet standards and enough to make her look good. The photos TMZ posted, if they are of KM, show that she is essentially still recognizable. That is a woman who could have a professional makeup and hair team and a professional editor churn out an acceptable image. And if she were really scared and dealing with a weird diagnosis, she would want to end this uproar to prevent the absolute deluge of paparazzo likely on their way to London right now to get the shot. Giving a small semi normal morsel in a current photo or quick video is how you take the temperature down. Choosing to look aggressively out the window during the papp photo the palace set up to quell suspicions is the TOTAL opposite of that.

Will dropping out of a family funeral at the last minute with no explanation is the total opposite of that.

Y'all? I wasn't even paying attention to this until last week. And I didn't think anything was REALLY wrong until today. The mother's day photo and this car photo to me say something is REALLY wrong. The cacophony of concern is reaching people like me who don't pay attention to anything royal until it seems like not just something the crazies are talking about but actual news. If there WAS truly nothing wrong, they would be doing something real to counteract it. This smells more like the H&M drama where there was a lot of smoke and despite KP's press releases, it turned out they were in fact trying to hide a giant bonfire.

They did. See the joint instagram post from this morning. This is how they counteract.

I think they are still unfortunately playing the same game and expect the same deference that the press and public gave to the Queen when she was ill. They need to realize, as they 'modern the monarchy' that more transparency is required to create trust and support if they want to keep doing this.

Seeing the explanation that they were altering the color and pattern of clothing items now clarifies why it looks so bad -- altering the color and especially the pattern on fabric in a photograph is very tricky, especially when the subjects are seated or moving, as it can be very hard to make the new color/pattern look like it flows with the fabric and it can be especially hard to correct for lighting, leading the photo to look flat and cut and paste in a very specific way. This is what makes that photo look like it might have been spliced together and what led to some people speculating Kate's head was photoshopped in. That always sounded off to me, but the explanation that it's related to changing the color/pattern of clothing items make perfect sense when you look at the photo. Most of the glaring errors in the photo shop are clustered around the girl's "plaid" skirt and Kate's sweater, which was apparently actually an ivory color.

It is a botched Photoshop job but not because it's impossible to lightly retouch a photo as an amateur. It's because whoever retouched the photo attempted a very difficult alteration that would normally require a skilled, experienced hand (for instance, despite having used Photoshop a lot, I would not attempt that level of alteration and would tell a client who asked for it that it would be better to simply take another photo). A minor retouching would not have caused this kind of stir. This was a major alteration, executed poorly and possibly in a hurry, based on some of the glaring errors.

I still do not understand the purpose of changing the patterns/colors of clothing however. Is it so eagle-eyed viewers won’t realize it’s the same outfits as they wore publicly to some function a few months ago?

They re-wear clothes all the time, so that's not it. It was done so that the palace could pass it off as a recent photo to show that Kate is fine and all is well.

William was probably on their backs to change it as much as they could. I don't believe for a second the staff thought it was an acceptable photo to post.

Also Camilla is a member of the royal family. The Middletons are not. So it's understandable that there would be press coverage of Camilla visiting the King but not of the Middletons visiting Kate.

She could have had a massive bleed from the eating disorder. It would have required surgery followed by getting nutrition into her system. She might have then needed in-patient psychiatric treatment. She might be in step-down care and able to travel to appointments now.

If it is a chronic condition, she probably will ultimately go public once she’s come to terms with the changes in her life herself. It’s only been 10 weeks or so.

I do suspect that Kate (or someone) has done this with photos SHE has taken over the years, and I don't recall any major scandals about those photos she's taken of her family looking very obviously photoshopped. I think she's a more-than-decent amateur photographer, looking at her photos, and there's no evidence that she has a heavy hand with retouching or a preference for heavily retouched photos.

The retouching of the photo published over the weekend was not minor. It was extensive, and that's why it was so badly done. Seeing the explanation that they were altering the color and pattern of clothing items now clarifies why it looks so bad -- altering the color and especially the pattern on fabric in a photograph is very tricky, especially when the subjects are seated or moving, as it can be very hard to make the new color/pattern look like it flows with the fabric and it can be especially hard to correct for lighting, leading the photo to look flat and cut and paste in a very specific way. This is what makes that photo look like it might have been spliced together and what led to some people speculating Kate's head was photoshopped in. That always sounded off to me, but the explanation that it's related to changing the color/pattern of clothing items make perfect sense when you look at the photo. Most of the glaring errors in the photo shop are clustered around the girl's "plaid" skirt and Kate's sweater, which was apparently actually an ivory color.

It is a botched Photoshop job but not because it's impossible to lightly retouch a photo as an amateur. It's because whoever retouched the photo attempted a very difficult alteration that would normally require a skilled, experienced hand (for instance, despite having used Photoshop a lot, I would not attempt that level of alteration and would tell a client who asked for it that it would be better to simply take another photo). A minor retouching would not have caused this kind of stir. This was a major alteration, executed poorly and possibly in a hurry, based on some of the glaring errors.

I still do not understand the purpose of changing the patterns/colors of clothing however. Is it so eagle-eyed viewers won’t realize it’s the same outfits as they wore publicly to some function a few months ago?

They re-wear clothes all the time, so that's not it. It was done so that the palace could pass it off as a recent photo to show that Kate is fine and all is well.

+1, they went out of their way to alter one item in each of their outfits. Charlotte's skirt, Kate's sweater, George's collar, Louis's sweater. The alteration was not to improve anyone's appearance but just to make this item look different (presumably than it did in the photos/videos of the November event).

And they captioned the photo with "[camera emoji] 2024" and credited William with the photo.

The only reason for any of this is to make it seem like it's a new photo of Kate post-surgery. Otherwise there is no reason. As has been clearly shown, they use old photos to commemorate certain days like Mother's Day all the time.

My hunch is based on the following 1) google pictures of her with the finger bandages, they are from multiple years. clear signs of bulimia. 2) she looked noticeably thinner in Sept-Nov of 2023 vs earlier in the year 3) if you take the car pic with her mom as real, her face appears to have gained weight 4) there is sensitivity with revealing bulimia / eating disorders because of Diana 5) eating disorder treatments take a long time and are consistent with the timeframe originally given

I'm not making anything up. William visited her once, the day after her surgery was announced. No one else from her family did.

How do we know? Because the press was camped outside the hospital and captured Camilla visiting Charles several times a day.

This tells us nothing except RF wanted them to see Camilla but not Kate's visitors.

Also Camilla is a member of the royal family. The Middletons are not. So it's understandable that there would be press coverage of Camilla visiting the King but not of the Middletons visiting Kate.

Ummm, two members of the BRF were hospitalized at the same time. That’s probably unprecedented and definitely newsworthy. If one or more of the Middletons had been photographed near a hospital, when Kate was supposedly there, there would have been pictures posted in some tabloid, or on some social media account.

I agree, it's so odd. The easiest explanation is that she just wasn't wearing the ring for this photo. I do think it was taken the same day as the baby bank video based on the clothes, but it looks like it was taken at home. Maybe she doesn't wear that giant ring 100% of the time at home but always wears it for public events, and this might have just been a photo taken at home (maybe even actually by William) because the kids were dressed up and Kate's hair and makeup were done for the event and they wanted a cute pic of the four of them together.

I also don't see any obvious photoshopping on her hand itself that would indicate the ring was removed from the photo. I think she just wasn't wearing it.
