Another celeb couple expecting twins ...

(Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon) ... Shocker, huh!

Oh she's got some twins, all right.

I am happy for them. She went through a miscarraige and like many of us, was trying hard to get pregnant.

I agree!

I'm not sure of the point of OP's comment. Are you not happy for them? If not, why?
Anonymous
Yes, let's attribute some nasty intention to the OP and make a really long string of comments about whether we should be happy for two people we don't and won't ever actually know. Good use of time!

I think they have been pretty open about the fact that they struggled to get pregnant and used assisted reproductive technology

Really? Because everything I've read she denies doing IVF and says it was just accupunture that got her pregnant. I wish more celebs would be open about doing IVF. Still nice news for them though.

I actually read an "US weekly" (or some other reliable new source) this morning with an interview in which she said something like "god no" when asked about IVF.

This article says she denied IVF and attributes her success to once a day acupuncture and progesterone. Hmm mmm.

This amidst other articles that say she was spotted at the same fertility clinic that J Lo used -- I didn't know J Lo ever admitted it. But then I guess I have issues telling anyone about my IF journey, so can you blame them for not wanting it spread on every newspaper? I mean I get it would help us, but would it help them?

I agree. I read that she claimed to only have used acupuncture. Sorry, I think this is total BS. If I were a celebrity I would not admit to using donor eggs because it's a much more personal issue but I would definitely admit to IVF. It does a real disservice to regular people when celebrities over 40 do not admit to receiving treatment. Women get the sense that they can wait forever because so many celebrities over 40 seem to get pregnant and their pregnancies are always in the news. Also, getting pregnant with twins over 40 is highly unlikely w/o the use of donor eggs. I'm not saying impossible, but highly unlikely. That is, unless she had some earlier embies frozen.

I think if someone wants to lie and say they got pregnant through acupuncture, then that's her business. She doesn't have any obligation to be the spokesperson for the IF community.

Yeah I think it's kind of unrealistic to think celebrities are going to put our interests above their own....

Ok...I guess I would say, that in this day and age, with ALL the information out there telling women that they can NOT successfully delay child bearing--if women are STILL relying on actresses, singers, celebrities, and Hollywood to provide them with correct and truthful information about pregnancies and their reproductive health...we are a society in deep trouble.

Secondly, I am living proof that multiples pregnancies CAN and DO happen for women in their 40's using their own eggs (boy/girl twins from an IVF egg retrieval that occurred the day before my 42nd birthday). It is almost as offensive to me that everyone assumes I used donor eggs when I didn't...as it is offensive that people refuse to admit that they had some form of medical intervention to help them get pregnant.

Why is this offensive?
