I'm in the market for a black suit (not a tuxedo) in size 18 months for my son to be a ring bearer in a friend's wedding. Can you recommend any particular websites or shops in the area? I've poked around the internet, but I'd be more comfortable with a recommendation rather than purchasing from a website I've never ordered from before. Thanks!

Put him in a child-appropriate dress outfit.
There is a reason you cannot find a black suit for an 18mo old. They don't exist because they are not appropriate for that age. |
| Try JCPenney. I always see tons of dress clothes there for little boys. |

How about this? I'm pretty cheap, so I wouldn't spend a ton on something he'll only wear once.

I would not personally choose to put him in a suit, much less a black one, but this is not my wedding, and I'm not about to tell the bride who was nice enough to include him that I refuse to put him in a suit. They do exist, as I've found several websites that sell them, but the prices range from $30 to $80, and it's hard to tell what's decent fabric, etc. |
| Filene's basement has cute Nautica suits for 19 dollars. I got one 18 mo. size. |
| I just had to get one for my son who is also a ring bearer- got it on www.girlsdressline.com They have tons of flower girl dresses as well as tuxedos and black suits. The suits are cheap- but I have to tell you the quality is so bad- I mean if my kid gets anywhere near an open flame watch out. But again, he will wear it for 3 hours max, so it fits the bill. |
| OP here - PP, which Filene's did you go to? Was it Farragut or Metro Center? I went to Friendship Heights tonight and they only had bigger sizes. Thanks! |
| An 18 month old ring bearer? Good luck. My nephew was 2 and ran all over the church, anywhere but up the aisle. |
Op again - Yeah, I don't have high hopes either. I think the plan is for my husband to carry him down the aisle. |
| The JCP Happy Fella "suit" is adorable! I wonder what it would look like on an actual baby though.. BIL is getting married and DS will be 18 mo at the wedding. Trying to find a cute outfit to wear. He doesn't have a role in the wedding though, so I'm just looking for something cute. |

The only style suit appropriate for a toddler is an Eton Suit, which has "short pants," like this:
http://www.bestdressedchild.com/lablbodrblve.html or this: http://www.bestdressedchild.com/fleitoboblve.html or on sale, with a collared shirt: http://www.dapperlads.com/index.php?c=44&p=375 http://www.dapperlads.com/index.php?c=44&p=524 Of, if that is too expensive, what about a cute black velvet John-John and white shirt? I think it is much cuter and age-appropriate. Like this: http://www.bestdressedchild.com/lufrbodrblve1.html or this if you prefer long pants: http://www.bestdressedchild.com/lezamekibodr.html And here are some super cute, black patent, age appropriate shoes which you would pair with white knee socks and black shorts: http://www.everythingnicefinechildrensclothing.com/1815.html |
Oh. My. Gawd. Little Lord Fauntleroy wouldn't wear these outfits. |
| If you're in NoVa, go check out Syms at 7 Corners. They have them. |
I wouldn't view a bride asking my 18 month old to be the ring bearer as being "nice enough to include him" |
