No. It is not ILLEGAL for a cop to question the kids and check if their names are flagged with CPS, which they were, which makes it okay for them to be "detained".

Yes, I do need someone to answer that, please. You haven't answered it. How can you orchestrate every moment of a kid's life when the kid is spending hours at the park unsupervised?

Are they really? There is no way my six year old would be ok in this situation. Does he know how to get to the park and home, yes. He can do several (as well as many other places) but just because he can doesn't mean it is ok.

There is NO doubt in my mind the guy who made the call was going to back peddle and make the situation sound so much worse. He initially said the kids were walking alone close a park. I bet he is embarrassed now that most people are saying how insane it is to call 911 on kids walking home from a park.

Why are other countries irrelevant? Six-year-olds are six-year-olds. Other countries have roads, and cars, and parks, and playgrounds, and strangers, and urban areas, and parking garages, and all of the other dangers to children.
