Trying to decide:
http://www.crateandbarrel.com/furniture/accent-tables/era-coffee-table/f1372 http://www.crateandbarrel.com/furniture/accent-tables/pia-coffee-table/f1184 I think the second one matches our furniture better (dark wood, dark hardwood floor, brown leather sofa http://www.restorationhardware.com/catalog/product/product.jsp?productId=prod1679049&categoryId=cat1537035 ) but I also think that maybe the first one would "brighten" the room and the handles of my entertainment center are silver (Manhattan from target). The second also is easier to clean. Which one would you buy? |
| Second one. Style of first clashes with the sofa. |
| Definitely not the first one. It doesn't work with the sofa. I know you think it coordinates with the handles on the entertainment center, but that silver is too contemporary and delicate for a heafty sofa like that. |

I like both the coffee tables just fine, but I don't like either of them with that particular style couch. I think you need something a little heavier. What about these:

| I was a previous coffee table OP and i agree with the second one. I'm wondering if i should get that one as well! |

OP here:
Thanks! I don't have that sofa (yet!) and plan on getting it next year (or something similar: brown leather sofa). PP that posted the wood coffee tables - I love that style, but I really need glass because it is a small space. So, knowing that I am going to get that sofa or something similar (maybe one from CB with more "clean" lines to work in my smaller space) do you guys think the second one is the best choice for me? http://www.crateandbarrel.com/furniture/accent-tables/pia-coffee-table/f1184 |
This one could be fine. I agree that glass is good when you have a small space. But try and balance that with the heavy look of a sofa like that. Try and find a more solid coffee table that is still not too obtrusive and with a glass top. DD is napping, so maybe I'll do some searching and post back. |

I like this look with the double tables
http://www.potterybarn.com/products/tanner-cube/?pkey=call-coffee-side-console-tables Here is an option for a glass top that also has some storage and a more solid look. But it's a little "mature" looking http://www.bassettfurniture.com/Rectangular-Cocktail-Table-DZ2998.asp |
| Do you have young children? Is so, I wouldn't get a coffee table with a glass top at all. |
OP here: WOW, I LOVE the first link! I like it more than the Pia from CB. What do you think of the Tanner coffee table instead of the cubes http://www.potterybarn.com/products/tanner-coffee-table/?pkey=ff027 - I would be able to save $100.00 if I get the coffee table instead of two cubes (only one doesn't work well for me). But I kind of "like" the concept of the two cubes better - which would give a "cleaner" look? |
Yes I do. The baby is almost 11m and is into everything so I can already imagine how the coffee table with have tons of fingertips, etc. But I am ok with it on a daily basis and when we are expecting guests I can just wipe it with Windex. I LOVE the look and practicality of wood better, but I really don't' think it is flowing well right now. My living room is looking too small and "boxed"/heavy since I installed the Manhattan tv stand. |
| NP here. I like the Pia and Tanner (not the one with two cubes). |
Think PP might have been thinking a glass top might be dangerous for young children if it cracked/shattered. |

I'm 8:51 and I think the Pottery Barn tanner coffee table would look nice with the couch you're planning to get. The color of the metal is more in line with the couch style.
I have shied away from glass coffee tables due to our young daughter. We have a glass kitchen table, but the glass is very thick and I've never worried it was going to break. It's not in an area where DD plays. We got a leather ottoman to use as a coffee table since DD plays in the living room. She bumps into it quite frequently so I like that there's no glass to break, and no sharp edges to fall on. |
I'm 10:02 and, yes, that is what I was thinking. I wouldn't put a glass-top table in an area where your child is likely to play. If it's in a room that doesn't get used very often, I wouldn't worry so much. |
