Private & Independent Schools
|
I swear I am not a troll or a high school student; I really would like to know if there are any schools out there that attract the off-beat, somewhat strange kids with high IQ. Schools where neurotic chess players who make their own films by age 11 are held in the highest esteem, and who are not the only one of their kind while every other male classmate is focused on catching a ball.
My son's current private is not the great fit that I thought it would be. His self-esteem is starting to suffer. Although I put this query in Private/Independent, I'm curious if there are any public magnets in MoCo or Arlington that would fit the bill. |
GDS or MoCo
St. Andrew's or Field?
Not St. Andrews for quirky. Pretty button down.
NYSmith is for gifted and I'm sure has quirky as often, but not always of course the 2 go hand in hand. McLean School has quirky gifted too, though not everyone is gifted, it is an acceptng environment for quirks. Good luck!
St. Anselms? The men I know who went there are off the chart smart, but quirky (in a good way).
Field
Burke? Field?
OP here; sorry, should've said that DS is in elementary school and we probably ought to switch him while he's still in elementary. Thank you for the ideas so far!
Jewish Private - pick one.

St. Andrew's graduate here- I wouldn't call it "button down."
I think St. Andrew's does encourage creativity and being a bit quirky. |
Edmund Burke.
GDS
Where do kids with Asperger's go?
St. Albans is full of aspie kids. Aspie's need rules and structure and consistency and high academic content.
