Posting Other People's Emails on DCUM?

Anonymous
I think it's wrong on principle. Someone did in the Off Topic Forum, one from her MIL.
I haven't seen too many, in fact, this might be the first.
Folks are arguing that it doesn't matter because her MIL doesn't read DCUM.
To me that's missing the point.
It violates the tacit agreement between email correspondents. (Forwarding without permission is bad enough!)
I'm sure her MIL (never mind her husband) would feel violated if she knew this had happened.
Also on intellectual property grounds, doesn't the email belong to the person who wrote it?

Thoughts? Is there a way to forbid or discourage this?

Can you please point me to the thread? I thought you meant people were posting other's email addresses in the forums, but it sounds like they are posting the text of emails. I don't think I've seen personal email texts posted before (as opposed to the right-wing Obama is a Muslim who will eat your children chain emails that get posted all the time). I'll have to take a look.

Jeff,
Here's the thread.
I've never seen it before either.
It's a shame, I bet this OP's husband would be hurt if he knew about this. Never mind the MIL!

To the above posters: If this were my site, I'd want to know. Emails technically belong to the sender. This could put Jeff in a wobby legal situation.

I am the OP of the MIL thread and I honestly don't understand why strangers are upset that I posted the text of an email that was sent to me. My "DH" knows that I complained about the message on this board and he couldn't care less (not that I needed his permission anyway). If Jeff wants to delete the email, it's his prerogative.
