ECNL moving to school year not calendar

Sorry I’m a little behind and not catching up on hundreds of pages. Haven’t been on since the announcement in March. What have we learned since then. Is every league/platform adopting the 9/1 date starting 26-27? Any news for trapped players or bio banding

Nothing. We’ve learned nothing.

So hundreds of pages of speculation and hopes and dreams?

BOOM! ... Many, many kept saying when this wasn't updated it signified a super secret plan to change early. Guess not.

U.S. Club had already said the age matrix wasn’t going to change until 26/27. This isn’t news.

The question since the end of Feb has been whether any leagues will permit Q4s to “play down” in 25/26 as part of a transitional plan. Until the league rules are released, it’s an open issue.

Except we're getting parents telling us no one is focusing on SeptQ4 at tryouts. We're seeing the the equivalent of kickball where everyone is so focused on winning, they are kicking the can until next year.

Anyone who said that is uninformed as the plan has always been to start Fall 26. Since it was officially announced.

What people are speculating on now is will ECNL or US Club make amendments or stay strictly BY. We know USYS is allowing CalSouth to start in spring 26. So it’s not impossible that us club would allow some of their league to do something similar.

We will all find out soon enough.

I am pro SY with a Q4 player. Based on the recent ECNL tryout, I do not expect any transition plan for 25/26. What I tell my kid is, well it is possibly the last year you can train with those talented players before you get dropped down, so work hard to earn your game time.

For Q3:4 players next year is a free year and you get a mulligan season in 26/27.

Example 25/26 2011 play U15 26/27 Q3/4 2011 play U15. Use this season to make sure your kids play a bunch and are ready for the Wild West tryouts next spring.

It’s going to be a SH#T SHOW!

There’s no reason to focus on Sept kids for next year unless they are good enough to help next year’s team win. I like the idea of getting a bunch of Q3/4 but you can’t rely on those kids staying once the new age groups start anyways.
Better to start recruiting those kids next spring.

Wait until ECNL kids get promised they are still going to be part of the ECNL pool of players only to play in the new RL league. ECNL has already said this new league is so clubs can optimize player potential and move players up or down week to week.

What this means is clubs will say everyone has a chance to be ECNL to get everyone’s money then let the sad losers complain after the check clears and it’s too late.

Don’t be a sucker! If clubs/coaches want your kid they will make sure you know it. Don’t fall for the definitely maybe game.

Correct. It was last time. I would expect the nonsense to begin late winter/early spring 26.

Is there a link for how the new RL league will work? Does this mean ECNL, ECN RL1, and ECNL RL2?

My main concern is how our ECNL club handles our Q4 starter. Allow her to play up with the team she has been on for years and force down to play with a totally different group of kids that might not be as strong of a team.

I would expect she would be with her SY cohort in 26. If she is #1 or #2 on her team maybe they allow her to stay with BY group
