Sad to see that a league that only 5 years ago had up to 4 divisions in the small sided side is now down to 2 and 1 for U13 and above. New leagues keep coming up, charging more because they are elite but still have the same teams as in prior leagues that weren't as elite. It's only a matter of time before they fold. |
ODSL will simply fold into NCSL just as WAGS did. |
That will be fine. |
Not sure if this merger will occur, but NCSL has also been gutted and could use some additional teams. They are down to 4 divisions at U16 and down to 3 divisions at U17 boys. Our local soccer politics are nuts! |
| ODSL is a joke, for 3k a year...no thanks |
Thanks for sharing, but nobody told you you had to go to Barca. I'm sure your kids Dad Coach on your D3 NCSL team is tearing it up though for your 2k before you've kicked in for team fees etc. though. |
Stick with the facts, I can assure you I don't pay for parent coaching and let's all be honest. If you have a program that has developed players for 2 years and the best you can do with some of them is ODSL, you are failing. Keep drinking that koolaid and you are right, I'm not and nor will I be going to barca. |
The facts are, Barca is 18 months into their program. They were not in any leagues last year at all. They are placing teams in leagues where they can and where they feel it is an appropriate level for the teams. Generally the youngest age groups are only in ODSL while other teams are in EDP where pro/rel will determine their fate based on performance. You don’t need to concern yourself with how people spend their money. |
Nobody is paying $2K + team fees for a parent coached team. |
This is pretty typical of average travel team cost: Training Fees http://www.loudounsoccer.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Travel-Fees.pdf $2125 is the cheapest. Team Fees: $250-$550 |
Loudoun Soccer doesn't have parent coached teams. |
But they do have teams in NCSL and ODSL |
Sure - but the PP made the statement that some are paying $2K + team fees for a parent-coached team. The only parent-coached team in Loudoun, I believe, is their 09G Green Team - whose fees aren't listed in what you posted. The coach for that team is AJ Wood. At best, there are only a handful of coaches in the area with his background. |
It is interesting that Loudoun's cost drops for older age group teams in some instances to below $2K. Are they trying to reward loyalty? |
The initial dig was that Barca charging 3k for ODSL was to much. In fact that 3k is to much. Well at least Barca gives you the out the door price. What is clear with Loudoun is that for all levels after is said and done you will pay just shy of 3k. And I didn’t even include the list for supplemental fees for futsal and summer training/camps as well as other fees and kits. Loudoun’s fees are typical across clubs in the area and whether you want to admit it or not very few people are getting a year of travel soccer for much less than 3k. And those on lower teams also tend to spend even more on supplemental training in order to move up to the A team. |
