Mother and Child Shot at P and 10th NW

Just read today's updated Post article for more details.

If a white kid raced his scooter into a young black (or Asian or hispanic) family playing on the sidewalk in front of their house, and then blasted away at them when they reacted to it, this would be promptly characterized as a hate crime and be a national top story.

I'm not a fan of hate crime law -- murder is murder, etc, no matter the motivation -- partly because it is applied so inconsistently / politically. In any event, the horrible person who did this should be locked away for the rest of his natural life.

Why didn’t you just give him a hug? That’s probably all he needs.

+1. According to at least one poster here, he was recently forced to deal with a racist instigator of fights. Could be suffering from ptsd.

Thanks for reporting it. What a devastating and heinous crime. My heart goes out to the family. We have lived in the area since 20005. despite all the change, there are pockets of sketchiness that persist. This is one of them. The mpd better leave no stone unturned in finding this killer and in patrolling our streets. They need to stop the daily gambling that hapoebs next to cleveland elementary too.

I'm here. I think this guy was nuts and doesn't change how I feel at all. They should have backed away and not confronted him. You can be right or you can be dead.
