Because I don’t want to walk my 3 year old to school past sh*t-laden alleyways and a couple that is obviously nodding out on opioids? Okay. You can have dupont then because I’m leaving.

None of what you're describing is going to hurt your precious little snowflake. Check your privilege.

Did you know that even poor, black locals don’t want to live like that either?

God, right?? Where do liberals get the idea that Black people are ok with this???

Exactly.

Geez, the liberal truly do want to turn every community into a place reminiscent of a 3rd world country. Maybe Trump wasn’t so far off in his description. We are headed more and more in that direction.

They've been really active on that front! I saw a ton of them doing the same thing a week before. Lots of volunteers in NoMa and by the Hill are coming to the encampments with wheelbarrows of food, supplies, etc.

I'm sure that makes them feel good, but all it does is help/encourage these tent communities to stay, which isn't good for anyone.

Agreed.

How does this help the problem long-term? It just encourages people to stay in these tent communities, which are definitely not what the city should be aiming for as a permanent solution.

You should be burning up the police call in number and the ones for the Mayor and council members. These things happen because they’re allowed to.

What do you think the police would do? Loitering isn't a crime. Trespassing is only a crime if the property owner wants the person to leave. By the time someone's overdosed they're not in possession of the drugs anymore.

Public camping is unlawful. So is littering. So is public “elimination.” So is aggressive panhandling. So is incommoding the public way. So are disorderly conduct, assault and resisting arrest, all of which are a not infrequent result of contact between police and drug addicts, particularly when as often is the case the individual in question has one or more outstanding warrants.

The police do nothing because they are not told to do something by their superiors.

Is that also the case in Montgomery County? Not to go off topic, but we are seeing these sprout up in Montgomery County also.

Can’t afford it. Not sure what our plan is.

Hmm ... Dupont Circle is more expensive per square foot than upper NWDC. Maybe trying posting your rental or purchase budget in the real estate board.

There's more SFH housing in NWDC than there is in Dupont. So that means if PP can afford a house in Dupont they can afford a house in NWDC where pricing is lower but conversely if they can afford a condo in Dupont they can't afford to buy in NWDC because there aren't any condos to be bought.

Less density.

There is less density in upper NWDC but there absolutely are condos here. If you can afford a condo in Dupont, you can afford one in upper NWDC.

Just your neighborhood. The liberal elites have an exception and a way out of it gets that bad.

So outrageous. Smug, condescending liberals insisting that black people want piles of human turd everywhere with no police to help them if they are assaulted or robbed by roving drug addicts. Insanity.

Yeah as a POC I find this really offensive. SMH.

Exhibit A above on how republicans made inroads with minorities last election. No one cares about gender pronouns. Your average person just wants to walk to the store without stepping in human poop or on a needle!!!

Snort. Your usage of “DMV” disagrees.

LOL. Yep I couldn't beat 'em so I joined 'em. I'm still old school in other ways.

Where are all the fussy gay men who live in Dupont Circle? Why aren't they raising hell over this problem?

True. It’s always the middle class/UMC that pays for failed political policies. The super wealthy just move on in good fortune.

+1 to both PPs

It’s not just the Gonzaga boys; I’ve lots of other volunteers (women in their 30s, families with small children) doing the same thing all over the city. It’s truly door-to-door, A+ service. Why wouldn’t the homeless stay?

HAHA. I haven't even been to that area in 7-8 years. Yes that is the place I was referring to.

Dear conservative troll: you're making no sense. What does this even mean? Please work on your writing, and/or your thinking.
