Would you let your child attend a masked indoor birthday party?

This is the most misleading statistic of all time that is now being parroted by the fear mongering crowd. Give it up, most of the people that have died were over 70.

To answer the original poster, no I would not go to indoor party but would attend and have attended outdoor parties maskless, because "science" says COVID doesnt spread outdoors but we gotta keep the fear going.

What is misleading? Were you under the impression that people over 70 are Americans?

Wow. It will never stop shocking me the people who don’t care about the elderly. With any luck one day you’ll be elderly too. I hope society doesn’t turn you out to be eaten by the wolves. You are despicable and inhumane.

This. My uncle was 75. He was a huge positive influence in literally tens of thousands of people's lives and was going to write a book. He could have seen his grandkids grow up. I guess the fact that he and hundreds of thousands of others "only" had ~5-20 years left anyway meant he should have suffered in the hospital, alone, for months, because... what? Otherwise kids might have suboptimal birthday parties?

Good thing you don't know anyone over 70 who has plenty of life left, otherwise this might affect you.

Do you really think people should be holed up in their homes for 10 months. It will be a year soon.

My parents are almost 80. They wanted to see us for Christmas. Both sides quarantined before and they drove to our house. My dad is in poor health and may not have many Christmases left. For them, it was worth the risk. My dad may have a year or two or 5.

Nope.

Absolutely not. My kids are doing in-person school and we do outdoor play dates and have continued with their two outdoor, non-contact sports. But an indoor birthday party is absolutely not worth the risk and I would decline without thinking about it for more than two seconds.

Have the girls do some outdoor activities and send them home with a goodies bag with a cupcake or treats. Limit the party to an hour.

You realize that the kids will certainly be less than six feet apart for more than 15 minutes, meaning that if one of them tests positive you will all have to quarantine? This is so stupid. Kids can deal without birthday parties. My kids are late March so they missed 2020 and will likely miss 2021. They will be fine. We even had 2020 planned but canceled and they were ok with it. Early elementary. Seriously, just stop doing birthday parties!

People are reluctant to admit(even online) that they would do it because they know they will be attacked and don’t feel like defending themselves. But from what I’ve seen in the real world, most people are still letting their kids do things like this.

This. I think we all know DCUM doesn't reflect reality.

I don’t know anyone who would do this. And I would consider my friends and myself to be cautious but not overly so. Our kids are in school, our kids are playing sports. But no way in hell would we attend an indoor birthday party.

Cool, so you want to hire someone who has been doing who knows what with who knows how many people to come hang out in a garage (which is still mostly an enclosed space)?

For my 4 yo's birthday we hired Anna and Elsa to stop by our house. They gave a performance from the sidewalk. We were on the front porch a good distance away. My 4 yo was thrilled by her special guests.

The lady who ran the princess bookings said that her performers usually have acting day jobs and are all really desperate for work right now. Consider supporting the arts.

Can you share the company you used?

DD loves Frozen.

I know I have been blasted on this thread. I am not sure how many guests people thought I would invite. This would be a very small group of people.

The one friend I am definitely inviting no matter what already asked us for a play date and we may go skiing together.

Not PP - but it’s dc princess parties.
