Sal also runs practices that are with many teams at once and it is a complete mess. As a parent, you will never have consistency on where you take your child to practice. Sal and his club are the most disorganized club in the area. Sal won’t play in local tournaments because of the fact his teams always loose and that would just prove his “coaching” is not successful. In all truth, Sal is just a big bully who has a disillusioned lens on his club…Achilles MLS is a joke. They constantly loose, and not by a little and then Sal yells at players.
I have personally been a witness to Sal making fun of his players ( saying they run like girls) in front of other players. So, just a heads up to any parent thinking about having your son play in an absolute toxic and unhealthy environment…please think twice! A “MLS” badge doesn’t mean anything if you can’t even compete in the league!
My son was a starter on his team, a good naturally talented player recognized by many coaches for his talent….thankfully he left before this crazy lunatic Sal ruined him! I seriously hope that parents will put their children’s wellbeing before a “label”…there are many other avenues you can take to get your child to play for college or professional. Sal is just like a used salesman that is trying to “sell” parents on something that is false.
Before making a choice to play for this club, do your research as a parent! Go to a game, watch Sal’s behavior, watch the players faces as they come off the field. Also, look at their stats and how they loose BIG time at every match….don’t buy into a complete mess like I did without doing your homework!

Bingo. Watch Sal at any match. He is an embarrassment to coaching.

Right on the money! Disorganized, the yelling and screaming, practices are a mess and Sal and company sure know how to milk the parents' $$$. 100 players running around with no purpose at practice with just one underpaid coach watching. Stay away! I played soccer professionally and this is the worst environment you can put your player in. Your player may not say anything now but later they will regret you ruining their enjoyment of soccer.

STAY AWAY FROM ACHILLES!!

My kid has had a good experience and improved his technical skills a great deal in the last 18 months. Practice has been very organized for his team, and he really enjoys his coach and teammates. There is not much communication with the club as a whole, but for now it’s working for us.

If you don’t like it there’s probably another club that’s a better fit for you/your kid.

My sons have both played against Achilles several times and it just seemed like a regular club with regular club dynamics. No screaming, berating, etc…. Why is this thread being allowed to continue??
I love the anonymous posting feature of this page and I don’t want to lose this!! Please cut it out and get over it, you need a hobby or some therapy!

+1 from another parent with a kid at Achilles. We go to all the games and many practices. Don’t know what pp is talking about. Give it a rest.

I believe the term is bald-faced lie, but you did complicate it by bolding the text.

Lol. Do you mean “bald-faced lie?”
The only liar here is you. You sound disturbed, actually. I feel sorry for your kid.

Look, I had a child play with Achilles and it was a bad fit for us and we left.

So I suppose I am a critic of a sort.

But to the person who is repeatedly posting with all caps, the same thing going on and on about Sal and Vinny, WE GET IT. Enough. People know there are strong anti-AChilles feelings. People know they can Google the game videos and watch for themselves. Please, stop.

The youth soccer landscape is just a mess in general, if only a bunch of these clubs would close/merge and we'd have some truly formidable teams. That's the discussion that's truly important for the development of our kids' soccer.

But of course, that's just a pipe dream!

What current problem(s) would be solved by closing/merging teams?
How does a couple formidable teams help the overall soccer landscape for the region?
