You ain’t seen nothing.

So she's from a family of insane wealth? Or do people go poor throwing these lavish events. I know the Jonas brothers have some money, but this seems way beyond their wealth.

Why do you keep asking stupid questions? Google her. She’s basically a plumper Angelina Jolie of India. She’s from a middle class family and made over $40 million of her own money. She’s worth twice as much as the Jonas brother she married.

Lol no. She’s trying to emulate Meghan Markle and trying to get publicity in the US, and is, IMO, coming off as extremely desperate in the process.

This is a serious question - someone has to be paying for articles to be written about her, right? It seems like there is coverage of her every move, much more so than significantly more famous celebrities?

She has a fingers in lot of pies outside of the big and small screens. She is heavily invested in tech, sports, and consumer goods. Big social media presence too. She has her own production house and collaborates with other in music, fashion, event management and entertainment industries. The Hollywood studios are investing in her projects in India where her mom is producing stuff. She is a very savvy businesswoman and has basically used her celebrity to diversify. Nick and Priyanka are also working with Disney for a new project. Interesting to see that she had more corporate type than bollywood stars in her marriage.

Simple answer - she’s paying seven-figures for publicity and had been since she got the US. Trying to make a household name of herself but it doesn’t work like that here. You need the studios doing the work for you.

I read that she’s doing the marriage for publicity too.

Marriage as a partnership for all the right reasons - progeny, social, emotional, economic, sexual and biological reasons! They both have their pre-nups in place and both have done well with this match.

I think she married beneath her with Jonas. Girl with her status and beauty could’ve bagged someone higher status/ more connected.

Who is she?

She is not a household name.

Nick Jonas is.

LOL! I like you. WHO????

Nick Jonas is known by a portion of 300 million America. Priyanka Chopra is known by a billion+ Indians and portions of Middle Easterners, Americans, Canadians, Indo-Caribbeans...

I get it, this is a forum in America. But don’t act like a dumb American by thinking that if you haven’t heard of her than she’s a nobody. Her net worth and worldwide popularity far exceeds Nick Jonas- who no one even remembered until she started dating him.

I wish them both a very long and happy married life. On first glance they seemed like an odd couple but they are similar in many ways. Their love for music, both go getters, close knit families, more than anything they gel and love each other for who they are. Nick sounds like a mature, level headed guy and is the perfect match for Priyanka, who is a child at heart.

He is “mature and level headed” and she is a “child at heart”? Not understanding how this makes them a perfect match. Do explain.

She has the worst neck in the business. Reminds me of a bulldog.

Love how women tear each other down. Her neck? Seriously?

I had never heard of her until a few weeks ago and only vaguely knew of the Jonas brothers. Now there are multiple headlines and articles a week.

What makes me think this is about publicity...is all the publicity. Every little aspect of this relationship has been publicized. Had they just gotten together, had a whirlwind romance and gotten married and there was a couple news articles, I wouldn't have thought twice about it. But everywhere I turn it is Priyanka and Nick...and they aren't promoting music or a music. They are doing the round of talk shows and news features, just promoting themselves and using their whirlwind romance as bait to get invites.

And like I said, it has worked. I had never really heard of them before this and now I know their names and faces.

In some cultures, over-the-top weddings are the norm. I knew a woman who lived in a Middle Eastern country for several years and even poor people had weddings that were wild. They’d have entertainers, multiple bands, dancers, parades, and the party went on until at least sunrise.

Most women have very high libido as they go into their 40s...PC is 4 years away from turning 40. I see a lot of women who are unhappy in their marriages because their same age or older husbands cannot satisfy them. SRK is an older dude with 3 kids. I am sure PC would not have been happy with being the younger wife of a much older man and being a step mom of grown kids, if she would have continued with SRK.

+2. I know a woman with a man 10 years younger (38 and 28), and they are so happy and sweet together. He adores her and constantly talks about how pretty she is. If I ever get divorced, I’m doing the same!

Aka age difference doesn’t matter. They balance each other out

I was watching enews a couple of months ago and they said she was like the Beyonce of India. So she's like superstar famous in India. I think it's pretty cool.

But...Indian weddings are over the top. I'm not surprised.

Yes, even poor people throw lavish weddings and people sometimes take loans and basically ruin their financial wellbeing. For a Bollywood superstar like Priyanka - this is a very normal wedding. There are two things Indian parents save for by living very frugally - their kids education and their kids marriages.

I find it odd that American people find this wedding over the top considering that stars like Celine Dion, George Cloony also have had lavish weddings. Priyanka Chopra has made 50 movies in India. She charges tens of crores per movie (at least in White money) so that easily translates to 50 million.

Do you all remember the Chinese actress who was imprisoned in China for not paying taxes? Her assets were around 110 million dollars. This is a Chinese actress and these other film industries are puny compared to Bollywood. Priyanka could easily have assets above 100 million dollars and so does every single industrialist who was there attending the wedding. She also has a huge fan-following all over the world and in the Asian expat community in US.

If you are questioning why she has so much coverage, then it is only because she is a money making machine for many people, media, industries, and it is part and parcel of her business to be in the public eye. There has been three major weddings of top stars in India recently and the celebrations and coverage was insane. Two of them actually married abroad - Anushka and Deepika. It is pretty amazing that Priyanka actually came back to India for her wedding. The fact that even though she married a foreigner and non-Hindu, she followed all her customs and rituals have really pleased her fanbase.
