I dunno, if I listen closely, I think I can hear the world's tiniest violin playing because there are 20 more kids on the practice field on Monday for 45 minutes. The world is clearly ending.

I'm an 04 WS VA parent and don't see any big issues. I'm happy with the way the team is progressing from last year. We all knew about the issue with the age group going combined.

I'm with the people who think that people who don't like the EDP option should leave and should have thought more about it earlier. This is really more an issue to take up with US Soccer, who set the age groups. Who knows, they may change it soon to help in future years.

Overall it's not a good way to judge WS in general, as they are doing lots of things the right way.

You're fine with ~80 kids all crammed onto a field? Ok, if that works for you. I think WS does some things right. It's why I signed up for a second year, but it doesn't mean I'm giving a free pass on the rest. I will give them a little time to even it out, but then they have to do better.

And I see the politics other posters have talked about too, but I think in the end, those folks only expose their own kid to the wrong type of challenge and put them in an environment where they can't excel, so it will work itself out.

Playing up doesn't always lead to playing better; sometimes being in your own age group does.

I seriously doubt that 80 kids are on the field at the same time. That sounds a bit exaggerated.

How many kids could also be playing up to demonstrate this rampant politics that you speak of?

It isn't 80 kids. I'm there every Monday. This is one of the posters who has a bone to pick with either WS or DA in general and is trying to make a point. I think it's been pretty well exposed by multiple WS parents at this point.

When the overlap occurs for a solid 30+ minutes, it's U13 (that's like 15 or so), U14 (about 20), U15 (28), and U17 (25 or so). That's about 80 or so.

U17s do not practice at the same time as the u13-15s. Your numbers are inflated for the first two groups. You spend time hawking this topic to bash anyone who sees it differently than you. It's clear to sane people this is more about your bone than reality.

Here is the practice schedule:
Mondays:
630pm - U13/U14 - LF1
715pm - U15/U17 - LF1
815pm - U19 - LF1

Practices are 1.5 hours. There is 45 minutes of overlap genius.

Buddy, leave the club. There isn't an issue with training for my kid, she is getting great training. Better than any other environment we have seen in this area, and that includes a few "academies."

I'd wager the pause in his response was so he could email your friend who actually is at WS and ask for the practice schedule. The other responses usually come so quick.

I'd wager not everyone sits on this forum waiting to see what comes next. Do you just sit there and refresh your page?

One minute it's a lie and a conspiracy being spread by mysterious people with an agenda. Now, it's true and nothing to worry about. Which is it?

If you are with the club, leave. If you are not, why do you care? It really is a trivial issue to have a 45 minute overlap at one practice out of 4 in a week. I don't see how WS reputation comes into play on this at all.

US Soccer is added a U16 Pilot division out west.

They can't expand it soon enough with all the whining. I really like the fact that they are responsive to problems and willing to pilot and push out changes that are needed. It's a good sign for the future.

I agree. The boys' division hasn't even had a pilot U16 yet, because boys' parents for some reason are less high maintenance. They have done just fine with an "EDP" type U16 team for years.

But I like that US Soccer will fine tune to what the market demands. I'm personally thrilled to finally have a DA for girls after all these years of it being around for boys.

I agree, it was long overdue, and it will yield some very good results over the next several years.

Personally, I don't think it's worth leaving the club over. I do think though that if half the practice looks like that, it's worthy of some attention, as that's sub-standard. I'll be the first to admit and was in fact the first to post when this came up that it is only Mondays and not every single poster (look back a few pages back and you can see where this all started for yourself). What turned it into a massive debate on this thread is the self-appointed Spirit PR poster tried to deny it and then couldn't handle it when he was called out on it.

The denial, the bullying and the abusive posts are what have people pushing back and saying "what a second, this is truly happening".

Thanks for this. I'm more interested in the comments people were making on the Girls DA and their experience than this spat about a small overlap on a practice day.

True. It didn't have to turn into an online debate. If he knew how to behave and just have a normal discussion, a lot of this crap wouldn't blow up like it does.

I'm all for returning to a discussion about the DA in general.

If your first instinct was to come here and complain about it versus contacting the TD directly and asking "hey coach, why are't the U13/U14's practicing from 5-6:30?", then you really are not as interested in a solution or understanding the problem as you are about wanting to complain and wanting to be right.

^^^ Thanx coach; your post was revolutionary.

Folks, we can close up the forum now. We don't need to post another thing about anything.

Can this forum solve your problem or can the coaches? Again, if you were interested in solving the problem you would talk to the coaches, end of story. But instead you just want to bitch about something because it makes YOU feel good to do so. You are not really interested in fixing the problem for your DD or her team and in fact you are doing more harm than good in making yourself look like an entitled fool. And because of your anonymity here you are also casting your fellow sideline parents , your DD and her teammates in the same light. This is a logistical problem for a single evening that frankly is of no interest to anyone outside of the club. All you have done is expressed your petty anger and jealousy and in doing so you have lumped every parent and player at that club in the eyes of this forum as the same.

None of this means that you have to like the situation, none of this means that you are not entitled to your feelings but choose the appropriate venue for your complaints and that venue is simply a one on one with your Director. If I had an 04 DD who was interested in playing at a DA I'd be more inclined now to look elsewhere simply to avoid you more than the logistical issue of a practice time. If you do leave, please let the forum know where you went so they can avoid that club.
Anonymous
Are you really naive enough to think this is a single poster complaint? Did any poster actually ask anyone on this forum to solve the problem? Do any of the posts criticizing any of the clubs ever get posted because anyone thinks this forum can solve anything?

Your response is so generic, it could apply to any criticism posted of any club on this entire forum.

The complaints are legit, and people will continue to come here and post about their clubs. It's why this whole forum exists.

But if you are so bothered, by all means, stop coming here and reading any of it.
