22 is not a child. Period. A 22 year old brain is able to understand laws. He's not a 12 year old. You may not like or agree with the law, but that is the law of the land. I feel bad for his parents too, their " boys will be boys" and " he's just a kid" policy of parenting failed them. |
What's amazing is how white conservative make excuses for adults who break the law when they are white. |
Hard. Not at all. Even if it were I wouldn't back down from hard. Maybe you should stop being afraid of "hard" and be a parent and you won't have to worry about raising a future Brock Turner, Ethan Couch or Otto Warmbier. #boymom right? |
+1 The judgment and vitriol from some posters on this thread is stunning. Of course Otto did at least one stupid thing but those of you calling him a spoiled brat or judging him based on "people of Otto's background" are suggesting that he and his family deserve the consequences, no matter how horrendous. I will be ashamed for you since obviously you have none of your own. |
You leaving out a lot, such as the whole Iran-Contra affair. And, Reagan making a deal with Iran to hold the hostages until after the election. |
And you know this how? |
Nice try being a racist troll, but I'm sure you'd have nothing but sympathy if this was a blck college kid that just didn't understand the law, Right? |
NP. To suggest that Otto Warmbier is comparable to either of the others says a lot about you and none of it is good. #girlmom. |
Fixed that for you. Is being accountable for his actions. He had no reason to be in NK. The state department wars against travel to that country. |
|
Once again....... posters here are blaming this young college student for his own predicament.
We really have no way of knowing WHAT he did or WHAT he didn’t do. All we know is what N Korea accused him of. And, N Korea’s record for being honest is not exactly stellar. |
Good Lord, when you people start losing arguments regarding white people's bad conduct, you always have to deflect to Black people. Why? Is it just a white thing that cannot be controlled? |
They all had excuses for them all their lives because they were "boys". People are upset because this"boy" was held accountable. I'm sure you're raising your daughter to make excuses for men. |
NP. Being held accountable is one thing. Being sentenced to prison and a coma is not "being held accountable". It's awful. |
We know he should not have been in NK. It's like those American hikers in Iran. They knew darn well they should not have gone into Iran, but they went anyway. And then they want the USA to raise heaven and hell, along with other people's sons, daughters, and money to get them out of their adventure. Responsibility obviously was not a part of the NK man-child vocabulary, or the hikers. |
Did the North Koreans come to America, pick Otto up from UVA and bring him to North Korea? Did the invite him for a little vacation? Did I miss that in the article? Because, I'm pretty sure Otto of his own free will brought his ass to North Korea on his own. When the State Dept. Warns against doing that. If you want to avoid being an innocent imprisoned person in North Korea don't go to North Korea. It really is that simple. But, I suppose you are one of those Americans who feel because you're American you should be able go wherever you please and be praised for being American. |
