i don't know- i'm going to vote for her, and I certainly don't think she's 'evil' but i found the way that she said the cookie thing to be quite demeaning and rude. Its also ironic since her own daughter has chosen to be very lukewarm professionally. i was just a kid when that came out but it felt like she was shitting all over my own mom- who is a huge supporter- b/c she chose to stay home. I also realize that for feminists of that era it was difficult believe that women could knowingly and happily make sahm a choice. Also its a bit classist- my parents were the first generation that had to work to support themselves as opposed to living off of family $ and that doesn't make my forbearers lazy or entitled or whatever, it just made it unlikely that anyone would think working anything but an imposition regardless of what you did or your gender. I stay home and make cookies with my kids and find it quite nice, its an easy sacrifice i make for my kids- until they are full time in school it doesn't mean i'm mentally deficient or stuck in an abusive situation. Frankly my husband treats me a 1000000 X better than hers has treated her in public. I also find women who advocate feminist positions and then say' its complicated' when they are in the same situations to be slightly annoying. |
Easy. Donald Trump. In way less time. |
He hasn't yet held political office, bozo. Don't get ahead of yourself. |
People have given the context here over and over again. She wasn't "shitting all over" traditional moms, she was addressing the fact that she'd chosen a non-traditional path, especially for a political wife. I SAH with my kids, ftr. |

baking cookies and standing by her man The reference to Tammy Wynette's song bit her in the ass after Bill's affairs were coming out. As far as the cookies comment is concerned, you can judge for yourself. The article in Time below frames it. She shot back at a comment made by Gov. Brown. As one who was in the workforce as a young woman in the early 90s, sexism was rampant. So I personally understand her comment. However, in retrospect instead of attacking other women, she could have attacked Brown. Nevertheless, b/c she was trying to carve out a new path for herself and other women, she wasn't going to play nicely. I get that, too. While I am grateful for women who have tirelessly fought to level the playing field, I think Hillary became too power hungry and as a result, traded in ethics for money and fame. And I do not support either candidate. Let me make that clear. , http://time.com/4054623/clinton-dunham-tea-cookies/ This Was the Hillary Clinton Comment That Sparked Lena Dunham’s Political Awareness |
The reference to Tammy Wynette's song WAS after Bill's affairs came out. It was on 60 Minutes after the Gennifer Flowers allegations and the entire nation was watching. Pay attention 25 years ago. |
Genius, here's the rest of her quote: "I'm sitting here b/c I love him, and I respect him, and I honor what he's been through and what we've been through together. And you know, if that's not enough for people, then heck, don't vote for him." And the quote makes her look like an idiot b/c he didn't stop. So I guess she continued to "honor what he's been through," which is quite a few women. continues to bite her in her big, fat ass She's a hypocrite and he's a serial philanderer. And BOTH of them took money from a convicted child rapist. Voila! a fine candidate for the presidency! |
Just curious - do you think Trump is a "fine candidate for the presidency"? And will you vote for him for these reasons? Or are you just really opposed to HRC? |
PP suffers from Clinton Derangement Syndrome. It's a chronic condition with sexism and identifying with traditionalism as risk factors, but is caused by excessive exposure to Right Wing Media and a similarly fact-challenged peer group. Symptoms include irrational anger, reciting false information and shaking one's head angrily in disbelief. |
PP, if you support HRC, you have no moral ground to preach others regarding false information. Seriously, get your head out of your behind already Unless you get a masochistic pleasure out being blatantly lied to your face.

I wish I had a meme I could just post explaining this simple fact - that critiquing Clinton doesn't necessarily place a voter onto the Trump Train. If I think Clinton is a liar, wouldn't I also think the same of Trump? If know that Bill and Jeffrey Epstein were tight, shouldn't I know that Trump and Epstein were also tight? If I acknowledge that the media is now split into two factions - each segment supporting a favorite candidate - wouldn't I read ALL sources in order to get the full picture? So if I quote a right wing news sources, shouldn't I balance it out with a left wing news source? And shouldn't I have the right to cite both w/o being slammed by Clintonians and Trumpsters? Why can't I compare Chelsea to Ivanka and point out similarities in their comfortable, yet unrealistic lifestyles? Why am I being unfair to them simply b/c they're the "children" of candidates? What I have trouble understanding is how ANY intelligent voter could support either candidate. If you dig around enough, you'l find some detailed dirt that's enough to spin any ethical person's head around. (Think of Linda Blair in the Exorcist.) Yet if I come to the defense of either candidate b/c people are misinterpreting a news source, I'm again labeled as either a Clintonian or Trumpster. I will defend them from time to time - not b/c I like them but b/c I'd like to show how easily the media can influence the sheep. |
I am 9:06, and I think you're an idiot. FWIW, I'm an older female voter who's voted straight party line (Dem) since 1984. However, b/c this election has "enlightened" me, I switched to unaffiliated and am voting third party. As an "older" female, I've seen my fair share of sexism in the workforce and am obvious NOT opposed to having a female president. However, I prefer a candidate to be ethical and to be fully supportive of ALL women. That would include victims of rape. I rarely speak out against Trump b/c he's just a buffoon not worthy of anyone's time. Clinton, however, is still considered somewhat of an icon, and therefore, anyone who critiques her platform and her behavior is considered a sexist and one who "mourns for the good old days." I've lived through the "good old days," and they weren't so good. So back off, little lamb, and learn how to think critically. |
I'm the one who asked the question and thanks for clarifying. I don't disagree with anything you said, but I don't think I share your same principled argument because, in the end, I'm in the Never Trump category and thus I will vote for HRC. |
A vote for Jill Stein evidences an absence of critical thinking. |
Weren't there attacks on embassies during the Bush years, too. |
