Keeping a dog on a short leash is entirely different than banning dogs. |
Why did the dog owner let the dog get that close to a child (in a stroller) the dog doesn't know? That's irresponsible of the dog owner. |
I don't think that anybody has advocated banning dogs on this thread. |
|
I have had 2 different kids at my home countless times in the last two years that were beyond petrified by my golden retrievers they begged me to keep them outside when the kids were over (ummm, no....this is the DOGS house) I declined and now those same two kids fight over who my dogs are going to sleep with when they stay over here...my kids complain because their friends now only want to play with the dogs instead of things they used to be more interested in.
To sum up, in order to get over fears you have to be faced with said fears in a safe way and embrace it. Then move on with your life. The dogs are never going away...deal with it and get your kids to stop being so afraid. Or maybe out a leash on your mud so it doesn't run into the street...either way, really. |
Or maybe put a leash on your kid so it doesn't run out into the street. Responsible dog owners do. |

PP here (13:44)
Wow!, I did not call dogs Murders. As I said I like dogs, I grew up on a farm, we had no less than 3 at any given time. Yes, if a dog is rapidly approaching toward my daughter she will try and find any exit to get away, even the street, maybe Darwin at work. A second Wow! on the therapy and being a shitty parent. Yes, she has spoken to a therapist about being afraid of dogs, however I was told some kids are terrified of animals, some of them out grow it and some don't. I'm saddened by the fact that some of the dog owners posting here don't seem to have empathy for children just trying to get on the bus for school, not the dog park. |
| PP...Sorry, I meant to say murderers. |
I think PP meant banning dogs at the bus stop, something some people on this certainly do seem to be advocating. |
Sorry that happened to your child. My daughter was also bitten by a dog due to no fault of her own and it launched her deep fear of dogs that lasted several years -- and no, I did not coddle her whenever she would see a dog. I am pretty sure that the person accusing us of inciting our child's deep fear of dogs does not have any kids. I don't think he even owns a dog. He's just messing with us. I've seen his posts on other threads. They usually come in rapid-fire succession. A PP nailed the same pattern that I saw. |
Well I'm anti-crappy dog parenting. My kids were bitten by dogs who had crappy owners. |
Read it again. Many people on this thread have suggested that dogs don't belong at bus stops. Almost all of the anti-dog people have said so. |
Let's ban bad parents and bad dog owners at bus stops. Everybody else, including dogs on short leashes, good dog owners, and good parents, can stay. |
IF you have multiple kids who were bitten by dogs, that's on you. You sound like a terrible parent. Once is an accident. More than once is you doing something wrong and blaming other people for it. |
There we go! I can't imagine why a dog wouldn't be on a short leash around people they don't know, and don't know the dog..? And what in the world would be the issue with shortening the leash? That seems weird to me. I've posted before.. my dog is on a short leash around other people and other dogs. |
Thank you for being responsible. It's the people who let their dog wander, sniff, jump up and entangle others waiting at the stop who are annoying to me. |
