And the smiley face in reference to male character traits was to denote what then? Thats to insinuate that 50% of neurotypical men have autistic like characteristics. Idiot.

You need to work on your reading comprehension. 50% of the population is male.

100% of NT men have autistic traits as do 100% of NT women. "Autistic traits" are "human traits" but in the extreme. 100% of human beings have "autistic traits", it's part of what makes us human.

Here's the link to the latest research done by Simon Baron-Cohen about the "extreme male brain". It'll be helpful pp if you actually read the research before making comments. Read it slowly and carefully. Preferably several time

Yes, it's a fact that many (most?) population have autistic traits -- especially the smart ones.

People should be aware of the Broad Autism Phenotype.

I posted this link on another thread but it's relevant here too since above poster mentions the broad autism phenotype.

This is for the pp with reading comprehension issues.

Hopefully, this wiki will be more manageable for you:

I didn't miscomprehend. I wrote incorrectly. I meant to say 50% of the population, presumably representing neurotypical males, are insinuated to have autistic traits by the idiot PP. Now you say thats true, that the entire male population has autistic traits. And to boot, you include the entire female population in there too. Regardless of whether autistic traits are "human' traits, it doesn't follow that the entire population has them. Perseverative behavior, echolalia, and stimming are autistic traits but the entire male and female population do not have these traits. Similarly, lacking theory of mind is an autistic trait also, but, in fact, the entire male and female population does not lack theory of mind. Autistic traits are clinically diagnosed characteristics of a spectrum disorder and must be distinguished from the male stereotype.

Looks to me like you and that PP are trying to minimize and trivialize ASD, perhaps to reduce it's stigma. I understand your motive may be well intentioned but you can't do that. ASD is a lifelong disability, so don't associate it with typical male stereotypes.

Echolalia and preservative behavior are not autistic traits. Those are autistic behavior sthat inevitably lead to ASD diagnosis. Autistic traits present in the general populations are things like preference for things over people, low tolerance for small talk, obsessive ingresrs, shyness etc. Those kinds of traits are what some of the people who lost ASD diagnosis still have. None of them has hard core autism symptoms, thus they lost their diagnosis and they no more have autism.

If you define something as a "set of behaviors of a baby/toddler" that really means you have no idea of the root cause. Or whether everyone who exhibits this has the same problem.

ASDs are diagnosed by "a set of behaviors" and yes, you are correct, no one knows what is the root cause.

Does this person even have a child with ASD? ASD is diagnosed through behaviors. It's not like cancer where there are physical/biological indicators. Everyone has autistic traits in some form or another but it's the severity and combinations of behaviors that gives autistic people a diagnosis of ASD. If the behaviors are not there, no longer there and/or does not reach a critical level, the person does not have autism.

Not sure why this pp is so committed to her belief that ASD is incurable...

Everyone has autistic traits? Are you insane? That statement shows your naiveté. Patently false statement. There are several people who are arguing the same point as I am on this thread. I am not the lone person with this view.

Hold fast to your bubble but I will truly feel badly for you when that bubble bursts. To minimize the symptoms of ASD enough to fall out of a dx, one had to have started early intervention even before the age of 1. And I highly doubt you can melt away all the symptoms unless the children has an above average IQ ( per Dr Copland). So rather than sitting around dreaming for this, get your babies into EI asap and do therapy 40 hrs per week.

The smiley face was for levity since your original post was patronizing, incorrect and just plain mean.

and the fact that you obviously have no idea how ASD is diagnosed or any of the leading research but keep insisting it is "incurable".

Or even if it's all caused by the same thing. There's probably different types of ASD, all caused by different things/genes/etc.

None which means that it can't be cured or grown out of.
