| Ashley doesn't 'suck'. That's a nasty accusation that isn't really legitimate. Ashley , as with all figure skaters, worked hard to where she wants to be. Figure skaters don't set up excuses. Figure skating is a very, intense, and a competitive sport. Wining the figure skating championships will give them huge bragging rights, endorsements, future opportunities and the much needed title of ice queen or ice legend. And maybe a space in the 'Sports Hall of Fame". Michelle Kwan is one example. Sasha Cohen is another. Ashley's a budding superstar who has a future, and so does Mirai Nagasu. And then there are those, who were disgraced like Tonya Harding who faded away from figure skating dominance as if it was just a bad dream. We have newcomers and we have the legends. Life does go on after figure skating....Dorothy Hamill tried up her passsionate streak as a potential 'Chopped Champion, as it was with Johnny Weir. Sasha was a guest food critic on Gordon Ramsey's Hell's Kitchen as she was a guess judge for Project Runway with host Heidi Klum. These are examples of what former figure skating stars would do when they no longer compete. |

She's got a World silver medal and an Olympics team bronze medal, and several National Championship medals to hang her hat on. She by no measure "sucks."
That being said, she never fully realized her potential, which is unfortuanate. And she always talked herself up too much. All show and no go. But no one can take away that 2016 World Silver from her. That free skate was breathtaking. |
