What is the best public high school in Fairfax County?

I'm not putting it down. It's a good school. Very good. But, I've never heard a single person refer to it as the best HS in Fairfax County.

BTW, my child is currently zoned for neither of these schools.

Woodson is sometimes singled out because it's up there with Madison and McLean as schools that are always up there in terms of test scores and rankings, below Langley, but not as expensive. It also has one of the largest Jewish populations in NoVa. It's not as close to DC as most of the area assigned to McLean, but the Annandale neighborhoods in the Woodson district are closer than the areas in Vienna assigned to McLean or the areas in Vienna and Oakton assigned to Madison.

Eh, but you are ignorant. Try the "google" button on your computer. So much info. Everyone talks about Woodson, but that was long. long ago.

So, according to Dashboard, Langley is at 2150, right?

According to Dashboard:

Langley is at 1,946 in the "current" (2012-2013, or last) school year. It is projected to be at:

1,974 in 2013-2014 ("this" year)
1,959 in 2014-2015
1,900 in 2015-2016
1,827 in 2016-2017
1,770 in 2017-2018

Is that for math + critical reading + writing? Those are solid SAT scores for sure.

Might be capacity, but it's not current or projected enrollment or SAT scores.

Why do you torture this idiot who is obsessed with the number of students at Langley? It around 2,000 students. The exact number varies week by week as kids move away and kids move into the area. It's a big school.

It's actually one of the smaller schools in the county, both by enrollment and size. Schools like Westfield and Robinson are much bigger.

Many more kids from W-L got into Ivies than from McLean and even Yorktown--check out latest Arlington magazine with breakdowns.

I doubt that but so what? The overall the list of colleges that kids from Langley got into was as good a list as any school in America. They got kids into just about every top college you can think of. To some of these PP's what is your obsession with the size of the school. 2000 students is a large high school-- who cares if its the largest. Robinson has been the largest for many years. I would rather have my kids go to Langley.

Unless W-L somehow applied to be part of FCPS, which I could understand given how bad the test scores are there, this isn't relevant.

2000 is a good size for a high school. I expect people in FCPS who stand to be moved from McLean or Marshall to Langley in a few years to stay around that number will be happier than those moved from W-L to Wakefield.
