There are so many women on this thread (on this forum) who PITY (!) single women in their 40s! What that hell is that about?

And who feels sorry for single men in their 40s? They're admired; they're catches, especially if they are successful. But a successful single woman in her 40s is not a catch?

In some cultures, self worth is defined by having a man in your life. Makes sense if you don't have equal right or the ability to earn a living. As for single men in their 40s, they aren't catches. There is probably something majorly wrong especially in a man's world where a man of that age is single.

The only thing I've learned from this thread is if I want to compliment any woman, just Lie about her age and she will fall for anything.

Seriously, its a combo of genetics + stress. White American woman + drink and smoke age very badly. Asian people tend to look younger. I'm Asian with 3 aunts w/ 3 uncles married to 3 other asian women. I have tons of female cousins. They age very slowly until their child bearing age is over then its all down hill very very fast.

Study after study has shown that unmarried women are the happiest, followed by married men and unmarried men. Married women report the least amount of happiness, mostly because they are caring for others before themselves.

I agree with OP; my unmarried friends look much, much younger and fitter than married. Kids make everyone look older; lack of sleep and stress as mentioned many times before.

I don't think white women have a monopoly on smoking and drinking, but both things age skin dramatically. Asians tend to have much healthier diets (lots of fish!) and avoid the sun, which helps their skin look amazing.

My MIL fits this description perfectly and she's neurotic as fuck. Everything is always about her. I know there are exceptions to every rule, but I always question people who are well into their 40s who are single and childless (or have 1 or 2 adult children) and no stellar career to speak of. Like, what did you do with your life?

Opposite with me. I was always thin but I adopted a healthy lifestyle when I had my children. I actually look younger NOW.
