Then why are you too chicken s _ _ t to mention it?

Wow...not only am I not too chicken shit to mention it (see, I am not even scared to type a whole curse word), I had the nerve to actually use it as her name! However, I will not be sharing it with someone like you.

Sounds like someone (the chicken s__t poster) was having a bad day. My DS's name is in that list also (Bennett). I'm going to guess Eloise or Vera.

I feel like we hit the jackpot for our daughter's name - practically unused but not a name that gets you the side-eye when you meet someone for the first time. I usually get "Great name - don't hear it a lot these days"

Now I'm dying to know what this name is.

I'm guessing it is Maxine - popular in the 20s but rarely heard now. I like it!

Lucien, Mercy, Maurice, Patience, India, Octavio, Lachlan/Lochlan, Euphemia, Luella, Clover, Delphine, Forrest, Salome, Sabine, Zelda, St. John, Noel, and Ivo are all classic names that have gone in and out of favor since the 17th century and before that. There is nothing "out there" about them.

Agreed. My DH suggested Delphina for our second child's name. The only reason I shot it down was bc I have an second cousin named Delphina and she does not have a single redeeming feature.

No, it isn't Maxine - but I like that too. It isn't used much anymore because of a public figure that people either love or hate. Nameberry.com even says "Too bad, it's such a lovely name"

Must be Hilary. I don't consider that an out there or uncommon name at all. I teach and every year there is at least one Hilary.

Hilary is not "out there" at all.

I didn't say it was out there - I didn't want an "out there" name, just one that isn't being over-used. Not many people are using it for kids these days, and the very low spot on the popularity list shows it. What level of school do you teach? And where are you? I haven't met another one under the age of 20. I will be surprised when we finally run across another one in the grade school set, honestly.

not having a bad day - just curious as to why people, who are proud of naming their children something odd, would not come clean here
It's an anonymous forum.

And I didn't spell out the curse word b/c some are unhappy with profanity on this board. But I'll go first - shit! Now it's your turn. Give up the funky name!

I really love the name Athena and have actually known people with that name but DH didn't like it.
