What is the most obnoxious or even delusional brag you have heard from a parent about her/his child?

The best one I heard was the dad who gave a power point presentation (it really happened!) at his son's rehersal dinner. He went on and on and on about his son and said nothing about the bride (my darling niece). He claimed his son was the only one ever allowed to scuba in the Carribean at age 6!

Even if there were a future Beckham on every team, if the best they can hope for is a place in professional soccer in the Untied States, where the average player makes about $60K, you'd be better off sending them to "Travel mid-level management," where maybe they might crack $100K. What an utter utter waste of time.

Ohmigod so true....And my older BROTHER WAS A PROFESSIONAL SOCCER PLAYER! He'd be the first to tell you to focus on academics. The politics in that sport also completely turned him off soccer completley!

He thinks my sister is crazy for running around with her 3 boys and watching them go thru the same political BS he did when he played the sport in this area.

My boys are just old enough to start playing rec sports next year and I plan to introduce them to a handful and then focus on the one they really like BUT it is no way, shape or form will take precedence over their academics....and I was an NCAA athelete as well.

I was pretty sure my BIL was delusional when he claimed his son was doing long division in his head at 4. But he's now 7 and taking an advanced algebra course through johns hopkins talented youth program online.

FWIW, my mother had 8 kids, and she said that I was potty trained by 10 months (completely). I did nothing else early. My kids inherited that from me and they trained completely by 15 months and 13 months. My mother tried to train us all early as we had little money and she was short on time with so many kids. With me, she was travelling so she really pushed me early. It can be done.

I toilet trained myself by one. But, it was due to some mild OCD thing of not liking to be dirty. My mom had nothing to do with it. She was at her wits end when my brother had to learn. He was not so compulsive.

I am from a third world country where many kids are potty trained by 1, some at 9 months. The parents do not have the money to buy disposable diapers, or the time to be washing cloth diapers. There is a push from very young to get the kids to learn about when and where to poop or pee.

Early potty taining is an inherited trait? Who knew?

I wish there was also a push to use deodorant and mouthwash.

More of our everyday behavior is inherited than you might think. The environment might play a part, but genes play a big role too.

My 15 month old p-t'd herself because I was training her 3 year old brother and she wanted m&m's too. She begged for underpants. This was just recently so the years have not blurred my accuracy.
