Yes, it works for humanities with strong leadership/evidence for major. Test optional. 3.8uw Feeder private. Successful. |
With a lot of demonstrated interest, Richmond is totally possibly. Apply ED and options open even more |

If strong in math and want small college, look into St Olaf. Math is very strong there. They feed into multiple graduate math programs. It does not offer engineering.
One caveat. It is in a small town outside Minneapolis, so cold and snowy in the winters. |
Talk about nasty. |
My non-NY kid was waitlisted at Cornell ILR with a 1430 SAT (Nat'l Merit Commended) in the application round 2 years ago. He had a good candidacy otherwise. ILR tends to give out sophomore transfer options. A possible play is Bing for freshman year then transfer to Cornell ILR or Human Ecology. |
Sorry...to be more clear...if you hang on to the WL to the bitter end, "they say" you get a transfer option pretty automatically from ILR and Human Ecology. I can't prove this either but I did watch it happen on Reddit two cycles ago. |
You really have no clue, do you? You should seriously work on your self awareness. You are being nasty because you said obnoxious things about a minor. |
Not once. Never. |
What about CALS? Do you get an automatic transfer? |
Richmond has a huge New York contingency. Probably more than Virginia (it is 11% VA for class of 2028). Not impossible but for a middle of the pack kid from a highly represented state, UR is not an easy path. |
PP. Sorry, I didn't follow that college. My kid applied ILR. My mom is a Human Ecology grad so I paid attention to that as well. If you want to take your time, just follow the various social media sites that have Cornell-specific application threads. From the start of the cycle. Following right now, you may catch what happen to waitlisters between April and June and then you'll know what's up for this year's round. Cornell seems to pre-inquire about taking you off the waitlist. They call and talk to you and I think accelerate the FA info after talking to you. Only some schools do that. Also, you do have to affirm that you want to be on the waitlist. My kid did not. He wanted to go to his preferred school where he was accepted and not wait around for the Cornell waitlist. |
Except OP didn’t say he has strong leadership and he’s not at a private, and she didn’t specify if it’s a feeder. But, sure OP, report back here in 2 years if DS gets into Michigan. |
OP: You don't have to wait 2 years. My kid isn't getting into Michigan or Cornell . Doubt he'll bother applying to either.

DPP. Her kid is at a historical feeder. https://www.michigandaily.com/news/academics/we-looked-301-high-schools-most-applicants-u-m-heres-what-we-found/ |
BxSci has a 51% acceptance rate to Michigan?! OP's kid will be just fine if they really hone in the time they have left. |
