I’m a proponent of Wootton staying on Wootton pkway. I’m an alum and so are my kids. It’s been part of the community for over 50 years. But I’m resigned to the fact the plan will be approved as Taylor proposed and all the drama isn’t going to change the BOE’s mind. All that’s happening now is we are dividing the community and pitting communities against one another.

Agreed. Maybe MCPS will start growing again and they will need Wootton to reopen in its original location. Time will tell.

Which is the funniest thing because this either doesn’t happen as some of the other posters alluded to OR it does happen and Wootton reopens without Dufief.

Either way, 👋 Dufief.

Dufief hate explanation: they are hypocritical. If they truly think the Wootton building is unsafe, they should’ve been happen with option D during the initial round. But no, they was pissed as hell and wanted the entire cluster to get behind them so that they can still at Wootton. But when H came out, all of a sudden, its we absolutely need to leave Wootton.

Let’s just be transparent. It was never about safety, but forcing everyone else in the cluster to move with you when literally more than 90% of the entire cluster is against it.

If end up at Crown, I hope Dufief is closed. In fact, I can promise, there will be people pushing for this. You want Wootton closed? Great, do Dufief next.

Karma!

They aren't hypocrites, they are realists. There is no money. A renovation of Wootton just isn't going to happen. Dufief understands this and the Wootton walkers can't accept it. Dufief wanted to stay with Wootton. Option H happened. Stay with Wootton AND get a safe school? Awesome!

It's also not just Dufief. 100's of community members from Stone Mill and Travilah also signed onto a letter saying they support H.

Sorry this is so difficult for you to understand!

When MCPS ultimately screws over Dufief and closes the school, I’m going to quote this “They are realists. There is no money. Dufief understands this.”

✌️

Your threats only fuel us and show your true colors. You’re doing what we have always known, you would do anything to get your way including writing any one of us who isn’t on the Parkway out.

Good thing your opinion doesn’t matter otherwise Wootton would’ve stayed on the Parkway and be rebuilt.

Same for you: you would do anything to get your way of sacrificing the will and wishes of more than 90% of the cluster who want Wootton to stay at Wootton all so that you can avoid going to crown by yourself.

Dufief is the truly elitist and racist ones here. This was never about safety. This was about Dufief knowing from the very beginning they were the most susceptible to redistricting as they are the edge property to Wootton and wanting to drag anyone and everyone with them.

Good thing your opinion also won’t matter to MCPS because MCPS will ultimately do whatever it wants. Dufief will be closed and redistricted sooner or later, and don’t expect anyone from the cluster to advocate for you. Not Stone Mill or Travilah will come to your aid either.

90% of the cluster?? What’s it like living in a bubble?? Or living in your echo chamber? Wake up babe, it’s the majority of the county that supports H.

O really? Is that why according to MCPS own publication, H was actually the least liked option in their own survey? 😂 Cool story. Nice of you to literally not even check basic facts.

Ohhh the survey Taylor said was cyber attacked? That had over two millions responses, more than actual families? Super reliable data.

Dufief mom here: Two things can be true. We wanted BOTH to 1) get out of the moldy building for physical health reasons AND 2) stay with our friends for social/mental health reasons. Just like the Parkway People want BOTH to 1) stay on the Parkway 2) have it spruced up--even minimally--as they have (rightfully) been asking for for the last 15 years.

I think the difference between Dufief and the Parkway People is that we have realized we actually can't have it all and worked to figure out what is most likely and throw our support at that recognizing the limits of our power.

Actually no, they can’t be. Safety trumps all. Nothing comes above my children’s safety.

If you genuinely think the building is unsafe, you would’ve been all too happy with option D instead crying about having to go alone.

The fact that Dufief is not ok with D but ok with H proves that it was never about safety.

Yup! The underlying motivation is “We don’t want to be the only white and Asian kids at the black and brown school!!” 😭😭😭 Please let our “vewy special fwends” come with us so we won’t be new, alllll alone. 😱😱

+1 ding ding ding

😂 when Dufief kept going keep us with Stone Mill and Travilah, meanwhile literally countless Stone Mill and Travilah parents saying we don’t claim you and keep our names out of your mouth.

Travilah’d own survey shows over 80% oppose H. Similarly, an overwhelming majority of Stone Mill also oppose H. Then when you go to the rest of the cluster, it becomes nearly 100% opposed.

This is why we hate you Dufief. You sold out the rest of the cluster.

Don’t care what you think of Dufief. Good thing hundreds of SM and Travilah also support us. It’s on record and the board has it.

Cool. And thousands more signed the petition against H. I’m willing to bet more SM and Travilah families signed that petition than your letter. MCPS don’t give a rats ass on letters or petitions. They only care about things that support their outcome.

So when they close and redistrict Dufief, feel free to collect hundreds more signatures and see how that works out for you!

Again not paying attention to basic facts. The published survey results took out all those fake results. Maybe get your basic facts right before weighing in.

People seem to be forgetting that in Options 1 Stone Mill was slated to be the only current Wootton school sent to Crown in Option 2 both Dufief and parts of Stone Mill and Lakewood would have both gone to Crown, in Option 3 only Stone Mill would have gone to Crown and in Option 4 Travilah would have gone to QO and parts of Stone Mill and Lakewood would have gone to Crown.

Just because Options A-D only had DuFief moving out of Wootton doesn't mean the county did not additionally recognize that parts of Stone Mill, Lakewood and Travilah could make sense to move as well. If and when HS #27 does open (whether that means a new school on Wootton Pkway or somewhere else), the DuFief are is not the only one at heavy risk of either staying at the building at Crown or moving to QO (could absolutely happen to Travilah).

I have a serious question. You all keep posting bad things about Dufief. Did you actually hear from all of Dufief just like you are claiming people have not heard from all of Travilah or Stone Mill? Some people from Dufief like the recommendation, some are ok either way, and others just want this to all be over. Simply saying you hate Dufief or that Dufief is a hypocrite is generalizing an entire group together that you have no clue if everyone agrees. Placing stereotypes and beating people up in anonymous forum is childish and pointless. I hope you aren’t saying to your kids “if you ever meet a Dufief kid, you better not be their friend”. All anybody wanted in this study was for their kids to be happy and go to a good school that is safe. Clearly some people have other interests that they have not been able to convince the greater community that makes any sense. Walking is nice, sure. I can’t figure out myself what would really make the most people happy with any of these options. Attacking your neighbors especially in the current environment makes you just as bad as those people you watch on the news arresting innocent people for no reason. Grow up, read a book, or maybe just maybe find a new friend. I feel sorry for those people on here that just need to be mean for no reason.

Yea per mcps, there are over 100 kids from stone mill that are crown walkers, never mind the fact that some of these kids will need to walk over 45-60 minutes across SEVERAL lanes of traffic during peak morning rush hour.
