Exactly, there is zero issue with not being a Catholic. Do not do this! |
ND is extraordinary, but it IS some kids' backup school (but by no means is it a safety school). With a 64% yield rate, that means that 36% of admits went elsewhere. My guess would be that 30% went to HYMPS, and 6% went somewhere that offered them free tuition. |
Cannot imagine feeling comfortable at ND as a non-Catholic for the same reasons non-Mormons don’t feel comfortable at BYU.
Jesuit schools are a different story. |
To add San Diego is 29 while Davis and Irvine are tied at 31, Santa Barbara is at 38 and lacks a hospital or quick access to large metro hospital system so not great for pre med but good for other majors. |
what is the difference between Catholic and Jesuit? |
Yeah, I think the acceptance rate for boys is 7%. This was my son's safety last year. |
One of HYP and "several other Ivies." |
Our friend is at ND. Was his back up. Wanted to go to Bezerkley. |
Totally wrong. As you mentioned Stern, NYU accepts by Colleges. College of Art and Science(CAS) has acceptance rate of 4% and its yield rate is higher than Emory, Wash U, CMU, etc. Tisch is also extremely hard to get in. |
RD at the top privates - total crapshoot. None of them are easy in the RD round. If that’s what you are banking on, apply widely. |

a world of difference |
Jesuit is a part of Catholic. |
Both can be true |
It will depend on your high school and how you compare to the competition from your school in RD. For example, at our small non-DMV private high school we always get a few into Rice/ WashU/ Georgetown/ Emory in regular decision. The most into WashU (up to 4-5). So it just depends. |
