Why do people buy houses on the basis of 2 salaries instead of 1?

You should have just moved further out. Townhouses are a TERRIBLE investment, and you are absolutely right, people hate hanging out with people with townhouses. Playdates are a pain because there's no yard and no parking, no one wants to visit because there's no parking, on and on.

Not everyone wants a soul-sucking commute. Glad it's working for you though.

You’ll see. I speak from experience, and why do you think your job won’t change or move over the next 20 years?

I'm sorry you regret your townhouse purchase, but where you purchased that townhouse is also a factor in its appreciation rather than just the fact that it's a townhouse. We live in a SFH BTW, so I don't really have any skin in your argument, but we have friends who live in townhouses and I have no problem visitng them. Actually we see them more than the friends who live an hour out.

FWIW, those big exurb houses took a pretty big hit in 2008.

Sorry you are struggling to pay your mortgage and/or live in bumf*ck nowhere. The townhome we bought went up $100K in three years. IDGAF if anyone wants to come to my house or have a playdate here.

I mean, you jest, but women entering the work force en masse drove up prices on everything. This is not a matter of opinion. The rise of two-income families is actually the reason most families now need two incomes. It’s kind of ironic.

Not true but if it makes you feel good to post this bs correlation to help you explain your misogyny to yourself, go for it.

What she said is typical tradwife/SAHM rhetoric. She doesn’t know or care if it’s true or not, these women just believe that women belong in the home.

The ones who look down on everyone are in the minority. I like townhouses, why do people have such issues with them? Just like houses there are beautiful ones in great areas and run down ones in not so great areas.

My in-laws bought a townhouse about 20 years ago. It was $1.5 million back then. It has a large driveway and garage, three levels about 5000 square feet, beautiful neighborhood. I wouldn’t have bought one that big going into my senior years but everyone’s different.
