Two term governor of a swing state engaging with the sitting POTUS in an effort to bring jobs back to her state. That's the behavior of a savvy politician and dutiful governor. Dems will win The White House in 2028. Would you rather have a dutiful POTUS capable of serving two terms who you agree with 90% of the time or another 40% approval rating 80 year old? |
+1 She’s not my favorite but I look forward to her competing with other savvy, dutiful Democratic public servants in a healthy primary. |
I've never read a comment I agree with more. |

Do voters identify with Whitmer in this situation too? |
Yes, competence, charisma, we want that. If she has legitimate character flaws, they'll be exposed in the 2027/2028 time frame if/when she runs for POTUS. We want as many of these types of people as possible on the highest stage while running for the 2028 nomination. This is how Dems find successful two term presidents. |
The White House hiding photo was a career killer. Running for president is brutal. You either have what it takes or you don't. And Whitmer doesn't have it. A photo like that would have destroyed Obama or Bill Clinton. But they never would have put themselves in that position to begin with. Whitmer has poor political instincts. Done. |
She’s deeply unpopular and lost everything in November 2024. The base hates her. She has terrible instincts. She would take a Fox News contributor check in 2028 in a heartbeat because she’s just a dime a dozen political prostitute. |
This lesbian Eucharist thing ended her career in politics. She’s been an irrelevant lame duck ever since. The fact is she is orbiting and enabling Trump because she’s just a shallow attention craving has-been. She has no principles, values, moral core or convictions. Imagine trusting someone so eager to sell out her voters and party. There is no crafty genius here and she certainly doesn’t give two shits about Michigan. |
You guys are obsessed with that TikTok which had nothing to do with communion, and she currently gives so many shits about Michigan - which was why she was at the White House that day AND why she was with Trump at the base reopening rally - that she’s ruining her future in national politics. |
Exactly. When governors are meeting with and/or communicating regularly with the POTUS, 99% of the time Federal dollars are being discussed. Governors who care most about their constituents, don't turn down opportunities to communicate with the POTUS. |
I find this all so interesting. I'm not bothered by the oval office photo or the Doritos pic, at all. Gives me zero pause about any future candidacy. I'd evaluate her on her merits at that time, if the opportunity or need arises. I think she's a solid possibility for future candidacy. |
USA Today says hugging Hitler has ended her political future.

LOL... just like Gennifer Flowers and Whitewater ended Clinton's political future and Jeremiah Wright ended Obama's political future? We're three years away from nominating someone for the 2028 election. Whitmer may or may not be a strong contender for the nomination but I'm not letting some silly media source convince me to discount multi-term governor of a swing state because of some untimely photos. These same types of media sources pushed the Trump and Biden are "the best two people for the job" narratives. |
I’m sorry, she doesn’t look presidential here. She didn’t look presidential hiding behind the file folder either. Unfortunately women will always have to be 1000 x better than their male counterpart. |
