Because cancer treatment is moving in the direction of ongoing treatment for a chronic condition. The chemo, or whatever treatment, kills all the cancer cells, your PET scan might be clear, but in a few months they might do some more chemo, have another scan, and continue to monitor the situation for months/years. Because in all likelihood it will eventually come back at some point. |
Oooh. Getty now saying they can’t vouch for the photo… |
I don't fault her for that. I'm sure if it was you or one of your loved ones you would have done the same. |
For those not in the know: Over the long term, cancers are usually treated with chemotherapy (chemo) in 1 of 2 ways. 1)Chemo is given on a regular schedule to keep the cancer under control. This is also called maintenance chemo. This may help curb spread and prolong survival. 2) As another option, chemo may only be given when the cancer becomes active again. The cancer is watched closely with things like imaging tests and blood tests; chemo is started when things change https://www.cancer.org/cancer/survivorship/long-term-health-concerns/cancer-as-a-chronic-illness.html#:~:text=This%20is%20also%20called%20maintenance,the%20cancer%20becomes%20active%20again. |

Anyone who has cancer or who has had cancer has to deal with the uncertainty of cancer. It often comes back. Sometimes when you think it's gone it's not. It's basically a lifelong diagnosis. |

I wrote a letter and I AM a British subject. Maybe that's why. |
You have no idea who I write to, volunteer for, what treatments I get myself. You live in a tiny little bubble and your only activity is with a tiny little walnut brain. I wish you well, I hope someone comes along and waters you and you grow into a decent human. |
You can’t wait….. sounds a little obsessive. |
This. |
Come out into the sun, pp. |
Dr Sanjay Gupta says people often use preventative and adjuvant interchangeably. Adjuvant chemo is to try to get any cancer cells that are left behind after surgery.
So it's not some Stage I cancer most likely. Either it already spread to other organs or was in the lymph nodes Poor woman. |
