My first Boden purchase, thanks to PPs. My hard-to-fit hips and boobs look great! But I don't love the prints.

I just got this one from Costco. The fabric is a nice weight and there's lining. It doesn't show bumps or cellulite. For reference, I'm 5 ft and the small hit me right at my knees. |
I have big hips, and Boden dresses are by far the most flattering on me. Beautiful dress! You might want to check out the Florrie dresses. They’re my fave. |

DP. Boden is very hit or miss for me these days, with more misses. But I have -- and really like -- this particular dress too! I'm petite (5'3", size 2 or 4 in dresses, and not many curves), and this dress is very flattering on my body too (I got it in petite 4). I have it in the solid navy, and it was on steady rotation for the office last summer (nice and cool and easy to dress up with jewelry and shoes). |
I ordered a Florrie too, but that one hasn't arrived yet! I also got a Sylvia. I like it but it's not quite right on me. The waistline is a little maternity-ish. I'm not skinny, but this makes it look like I'm trying to hide a belly that I don't have. Do you know of a maxi dress with a similar waistline to the Amelie? Vanessa maybe? I wish there was a store to try them on and see the fabrics in person (both the prints I just got look much better online than IRL) |
Anyone know how the Amelie is on long torso bodies? I'm a 'pear' shape - long torso and hold my weight in my hips/thighs/butt. |
These models are cracking me up. I feel I am not their target audience. My 17-year old size 00 daughter might be though. |
I don't thave that one, but I'm the same shape and I often order the "tall" for Boden even though I'm only 5'4". It makes for a longer torso, and I don't mind a couple extra inches on the length. One of my gripes about Boden is that the dresses are often short-waisted, which makes me look pregnant. I really like that Florrie with the black and white pattern -- might get that for the office in summer -- could look professional with a black cardigan or jacket and black ballet flats, I think. |
I’m the PP. I love the navy, also have in black. Wish they made more solid colors. |
DP. Quality is quite good for the price, IMO -- the fabric is good quality and the seams are properly sewn for this kind of stretch fabric, which is not always a given. I find the dresses to run true to size except that they run long. I am 5'5" and the maxi I bought there last summer grazed the tops of my toes (which is too long for a casual dress, IMO). I had it hemmed 4 whole inches and now it hits at my ankle like they do on the models on the website (who I'm guessing are all around 5'10"). |
| I have the Faherty dress and it’s very cute on me. But I think any sweater or jacket looks terrible with it—it kills the line. |
Yes! I wish Boden would lean into solids a bit more. |
Agree- so often I like their styles but not the colorways. I did just get this one in the navy/white dot and like it: https://www.bodenusa.com/en-us/julia-short-sleeve-shirt-dress-navy-scattered-brand-spot/sty-d0997-nvy?cat=C1_S2_G4 My other issue with Boden is that their v neck styles are usually too deep on me. |
