I’m a happy Wash. U. alum. Michigan is a wonderful university and obviously would be better than Wash. U. for an organized go-getter who loves Ann Arbor. SLACs are great. I hate the SLAC bashing that shows up on DCUM. But, in defense of Wash. U.’s economics program: The professors are kind and interesting and teach their own classes. I majored in economics there and don’t remember ever meeting an economics TA. |
My guess would be that Ann Arbor has gorgeous, cheap off-campus apartments, but so does Wash. U. There are lots of beautiful old apartments near the campus, in a neighborhood that’s roughly like the Mount Pleasant neighborhood, that rent for about $500 to $900 per bedroom. So, this doesn’t seem like the top factor for deciding between Wash. U. and Michigan. |
https://apply.emory.edu/discover/facts-stats/first-year.html Emory is 10.7, Oxford is 17.5. There's no way to combine them as some students apply to only Emory and others apply to only Oxford. And some admits get into only one while some get into both. If you are counting Umiches main campus, you need to only count Emory's as well. |
+1, there's a reason US news doesn't count Oxford, just like they don't count NYU's other campuses etc. |
I can’t speak for St Louis, but there is no so thing as cheap off-campus housing in Ann Arbor. |
| OMG who cares. |
| Lots of crime in the off campus housing for Wash U. I told my DD if she goes there she must live on campus all 4 years. She is at Wash U now and says the crime is horrible and keeps getting worse. The school publishes a weekly report and its scary. |
