Accepted Wash U, Michigan, rejected Emory

What would you choose between Wash U and Michigan? And is it unusual to get into Wash U and Michigan but not Emory (he would have preferred Emory out of the 3)?

No discussion of major, grades, interests or state of residence. Like…nothing. What kind of answer would you like?

Emory RD isn’t out yet, how was he rejected? Unless this was ED.

Michigan all the way, not knowing anything.

Wash U — no question! Way more emphasis on undergrad education.

I don’t think it’s surprising to get into WashU and Michigan but not Emory as Emory is more selective than washu and Michigan (not saying it’s a better school, just that the acceptance rate is lower)

I don’t think you can go wrong choosing between WashU and Michigan! Great schools. Depends what your DC is looking for.

Planning on Economics at Michigan, Business school at Wash U. Wanted business school at Emory.

Very different size schools. If you can visit that may help. Great education at either.

Would you mind giving us stats? Congratulations! I would personally choose Michigan.

Depends on the student and OP preference.

Michigan economics is good and certainly good enough to get solid business jobs after college. You can always supplement with online or summer classes if your student wants to add some finance.

Wash U if you want certainty of the business school experience including the baked-in finance classes.

Agree with previous posters, not much info to go on here OP. If they intend to try for finance-related jobs, they need some finance somewhere or another. If generally business, probably either can work though again some finance coursework would help.

I would choose WashU for its size, education, campus and food

They’re all comparable, so without discussing major etc, no it is not surprising. Any of the three could’ve been a rejection.

I’d choose Michigan, without question! And your kid must’ve gotten in EA, which is impressive! Atlanta and St Louis would. Org be terrible places for college.
