Ummm...never. Wilson anointed her. You think his buddies at Alexandria Now are going to report about this? Nah, but they will keep running with the Amy Jackson can't figure out how endorsements work story. Which is proven and much more entertaining. |

[/quote] +1 on them not touching Gaskins, though it has has little to do proven vs. unproven news. It has everything to do with alxnow.com’s credibility. In the past year, I’ve seen multiple instances where their reporters provide disparate treatment/coverage to white women-owned businesses. Jackson isn’t a POC, so I’m fully expecting they take the same slanted approach with her. Character fitness is highly important trait for our elected leaders and the community deserves comprehensive reporting. Alxnow.com’s immature and transparent angling doesn’t help anyone. |

+1. They left up for several days multiple posts ridiculing Jackson's weight, but have made zero posts about the possibility that an individual running for Mayor might be married to a convicted felon and on probation. Truly slimy 'journalism.' |
From five minutes of googling, it looks like Gaskins’ husband works for the DC Public Charter School Board but his LinkedIn profile is inaccessible which is a bit strange. |
| How many days can this huge story stay on the front page of DCUM without any local media picking it up? |

Alexandria is generally regarded as a joke. Even in Richmond, Ds and Rs alike use it as a punch line.
Why would a reporter care? |
Because it's a great story. |
Gotta start somewhere. |
You need some perspective. Get out of Alexandria for a few hours. It's not the center of the universe. Just a bunch of not too terribly bright and overpaid government workers who think pushing paper makes them important. |
You do know that you're in a forum for Metropolitan Dc Local Politics, right? They can ignore this burning building for as long as they want. Personally, if I were Gaskins I'd get out front of it and control the narrative before Jackson's camp got a hold of it. |
| Alyia is incredibly smart and has made more progress on City Council in one term than many do in years on council. I hope she wins. |
What exactly has she done in her one year on the council, except keep silent since May of PY arena news. What have any of them done? |
Is her husband's birthday January 3rd? |
+1 He also grew up here (single mom in the berg) and is passionate about the city. He replies within a few hours if you reach out to him. He’d have my vote |
