I also loved Studio 60 and was so sad when it was canceled. He was so great in the role and showed how much range he had. May his memory be a blessing. |
That's nice - highlights the fact that Friends is what he'll be remembered for and also honors his wishes. |
Yeah, I assumed they'd be working together on a statement. Have always appreciated the way they stuck together. |
| Did anyone ever see A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon? A young Matthew Perry was in this late 80s (mostly forgotten, probably badly dated film, but I remember liking it at the time). I wasn't surprised when I saw him again on Friends. He was appealing and funny. |
| The medical examiner has listed the cause of death as "deferred," almost certainly because the toxicology report is needed. |
Why? This is personal not business. They should be free to say what they want. I hope they each provide a tidbit about him that we didn’t know, like how many people he has helped, etc. |
NP. You want a “tidbit” about a man who lived in the public eye since the age of 24 or so, who recently published a heartbreakingly complete, honest, and vulnerable memoir? You want a little “tidbit,” eh, you ghoul? However THEY decide to handle it will be the right thing to do. Keep sniffing around for tidbits. |

I don't remember the names of either of these, but Matthew Perry was excellent in both.
The first was a series he did after Friends where he played a widower who was in therapy. It sounds sad but was a comedy and I was so disappointed when it was cancelled. The second was a movie he did for Hallmark Hall of Fame where he played a teacher in a disadvantaged school. It really showed what a great dramatic actor he was. |

His work with addiction was really powerful. He came to an event I worked (I'm in the field) and spent so much time with folks in recovery just talking to them and sharing stories. I've seen many celebrities come and speak - but he was really one of the most down to earth and honest about his addiction.

People that age do not just drown in their own pools. In broad daylight. He either had a medical event (like a heart attack) or there were substances involved. Either way, of course it is sad to lose something so young, and so talented. |
| He was so cute/adorable in his 20’s! |
NP but what a bizarre and rage-filled take. I interpreted “tidbit” to mean a fond personal memory they had of him that is not widely known, not a piece of gossip. |
What more can they say? What more can they give you? They’ve done interviews, reunion specials, behind-the-scenes footage, DVD commentary, on and on. And for someone to say oh well if they do it as a group that’s disappointing and they’d better do it like this…I mean, shut up. This is their friend, their longtime friend and colleague. However they choose to deal with it is right, and any criticism of how they choose to approach this is wrong. |
Sounds like some real Tom Hanks level stuff there, Larry King. |
Agree, very strange response |
