I have a good friend from college - Richmond, old money, Country Club of Virginia, St. Catherine’s, the whole package. Her mother is exactly what you would expect too. Whenever I want to know if something is trashy or not, I ask myself what she would do. And she definitely wears studs in the daytime. |
I attended Towson University. |
^diamond studs. Not the ear piercing ones. |
Sometimes (ok, often) I don’t do the dinner dishes until the next day! |
I enjoy a nice scented candle every now and then.
My oldest 2 kids share a bedroom. Love my minivan. We have no set screen time rules (aside from expecting they continue to do well in school and stay active in sports). But otherwise I don’t care if they play hours or Roblox on a rainy day. We still make the youngest kids their own meal (sometimes a variation of the more adult meal, but often something like Kraft mac n cheese or a bowl of cereal). Dinner time isn’t worth a battle to me. My kids went to a big daycare center that got trashed on here and we had a good experience. I topped out in my career by age 32 (low six figures) and I’m ok with it. |
And if you have (or don’t have) pets there is something wrong with you. Also you probably make too little, or maybe too much and you’re out of touch. And you probably don’t shop at the right stores or vacation in the right places. Or you’re fat because you don’t prioritize your health or you are cheating because you’re on Wegovy. I could go on. |
Wait, where else would you keep them? I must have missed this thread. |
I wish I had your self esteem. ![]() |
It's generational. My grandmother has daytime and nighttime stud earrings, and the daytime ones are like pearl, coral, jade, gold etc. |
I went to Radford |
DP. I think it’s moving that direction. When we first moved to our home we paid a lawn company to dump chemicals (gross I know) all over to kill the clover. Then the clover came back anyway a few years later. We are now more educated about what a scam lawn care is and how we’ve all been duped into thinking clover is a bad weed. I’m now a huge fan of pollinator friendly yards. When kept neatly mowed, it is nice and lush looking. Soft of my kids’ feet (they do water play and run around barefoot in summer). We aren’t spending tons of $ and time to maintain it (a total win in my book). And my kids really love seeing all the bees and birds come into our yard. I think the perfectly manicured, chemical-sprayed golf course looking yards are now like bolt on boobs — everyone can tell they’re fake and tacky. I love my neighbors’ yards that are certified wildlife habitats. |
I live in what DCUM would consider a shack in Vienna.
Kids going to an IB vs. AP school. I don't have tons saved in their 529s. Goal is instate school Don't travel to expensive places; my kids have only been to my home country besides the US. Wear sporty/casual clothes Don't GAF if I don't fit into DCUM's narrow idea of UMC lifestyle |
If there is one person in the world who exemplifies all that DCUM holds dear, it is Katie Ledecky. Multiple gold medals, National Merit Scholar, Stone Ridge and Stanford, etc. Kind, classy, not flashy. Father is a Harvard/Yale educated biglaw attorney. |
We live in a townhouse and have no plans to "upgrade" to a SFH, no matter how much money we make. |
I don't complain about being in a sexless marriage. |
