People say that about a lot of things, until they happen. |
| People in DC should be able to choose any state as their official voting and tax state. Done |
An independent state? Will never happen. Retrocession to MD? Maybe, but not likely. MD would either need to be broke or it would require a major payoff for MD to agree to it. |

This makes no sense. |
That's what your crystal ball says. |
Anything to avoid the simple, obvious solution of making DC a state. |
Neither does retrocession and people keep bringing it up. |
The solution would be to establish that you can't live in the government buildings housing the SCOTUS/congress etc and that the residential parts of DC can have voting Representatives |
And, not coincidentally, that’s the solution that’s on the table. |
Why is the solution always to give the super liberal DC to Maryland? Why not give it to Virginia and admit Virginia does not want DC voters to definitively turn the state blue |
OMG please know anything before commenting. Virginia already took their part of DC back. What remains originally belonged to Maryland. |
So what? DC can't be given back to Virginia, but it could certainly be given to Virginia. And the PP is right, super weird that nobody ever mentions that possibility. I wonder why? |
You think fewer than 400,000 registered DC Democratic voters will turn Virginia blue? |
It can’t be given back to just anybody. |
