An independent state? Will never happen. Retrocession to MD? Maybe, but not likely. MD would either need to be broke or it would require a major payoff for MD to agree to it.

It wouldn’t be right if people were forced to live in DC. That’s not the case. People choose to live there.

The solution would be to establish that you can't live in the government buildings housing the SCOTUS/congress etc and that the residential parts of DC can have voting Representatives

The solution would be to establish that you can't live in the government buildings housing the SCOTUS/congress etc and that the residential parts of DC can have voting Representatives

So what? DC can't be given back to Virginia, but it could certainly be given to Virginia. And the PP is right, super weird that nobody ever mentions that possibility. I wonder why?
