Yeah, right. I've been hearing that for the last twenty years... |
Please. How about if you quit overestimating where lacrosse sits in the athletic pecking order at any school outside of Prep and Landon. |
How is lax "culture" different from the "culture" of any other sport? |
It's not. It's just another way to bash schools like Prep and Landon. |
Landon certainly can be bashed on other grounds. What a horde of entitled, spoiled, vile, immature boys. And the way they treat girls...disgusting. My daughter dated a few of them and hung out with a group of them before coming to her senses (and self-esteem). I can only think of a handful of boys she knew from the class of 2011 who didn't constantly put down every other school in the area and who didn't treat and consider ALL females like crap. Way to put yourself on the top of the heap. That's seems to be something they teach at Landon. |
You are trashing the Landon class of 2011? Your DD hung out with a group of them? My observations and sources of information are very balanced. Overall Landon 2011 is a great group. Nothing so repugnant or disgusting on the level of some others. I do not and never have had a son or relative at Landon. |
I didn't say all boys in the 2011 class. There are a few who appeared to be young men of character and integrity but there were many, many more who needed to learn that honorable behavior consists of more than a smile and a firm handshake. There are many loutish boy at other schools too - it just seems that they are the preponderance at Landon. And yes my daughter and her friends were treated poorly by a number of Landon boys. I think they were under the impression that considering someone's feelings was, perhaps, not manly. |
I was wondering when someone would start trashing Landon again. It's been over a year since there were multiple threads trashing Landon and then Jeff took them all down.
I don't have a child at Landon, but I don't like for people to overgeneralize about a whole group of people. Imagine how ignorant it would be to say ... "all white people are rich and trashy"... |
The constant effort to bash Landon students is pretty amazing - reaching out to dredge something up from months ago? A lot of teenagers are unpleasant (male and female), particularly in groups. Maybe some are heartless or careless with others' feelings, too. Glad your DD has nicer friends now, but smearing all but "a few" of any high school graduating class in an anonymous forum seems pretty mean. I am sure that your DD's female friends also have their "moments" - I have seen a lot of female teen behavior that is appalling from my middle-aged perch. But perhaps you should question why you are so invested in a school your DD doesn't go to? (And no, I have no kids at Landon and don't plan to). |
to 10:43 from 10:13. There were/are many old-fashioned types at Landon who upon occasion can appear loutish. But they are NOT creepy and the school does have higher standards of behavior than others for dances, etc.
What do you mean by loutish? |
Perhaps 00:21 shouldn't have started the most recent circle-jerk with this comment ...
|
You must not read DCUM pp. People always start trashing these schools for any reason they can muster. |
It's summer. People are bored. |
Trust me, I read plenty. And when someone else starts another gratuitous round of senseless attacks, I'll call that person a jackass. But when a Landon/Prep person starts the dance like 00:21 did ... well then I think she's an idiot who's getting what she deserves. |
If you had said the class of 2010, then you would be entitled to make your statement. However, the class of 2011, from the summer before they started their senior year when they met to decide how they were going to lead, made a concerted effort with every student to model good behavior and demand good behavior from every student. Every game an email was sent to remind students how Landon men were to behave and not to give in to taunts and harassment by other schools. The amount of community service done by this class was above and beyond. Academically, this class did really well. This class suffered the death of one of the their one and had another student deal with cancer. I only hope all future classes model themselves after the young men in this class. |
