She’s the subject of gossip because she didn’t get the role based on talent but due to her family connections, and she was so obviously not talented enough for this role. And apparently was not able to reflect and realize she wasn’t good enough. Seems she’s had all sorts of doors open to her due to her family but has hit a ceiling. Her singing is weak, without inflection or much emotion, and flat at times. She doesn’t wow, and you can hear this within a few notes. So painful to endure the rest of the song.
Lea Michele has the comedic, acting and vocal abilities for this role. It’s true in Glee she sometimes seemed overly dramatic and emotional and her delivery too similar to Barbra S- but that was her character on Glee! She has a phenomenal voice and hopefully the director will help her find her own individual and original signature on the songs. But even if she didn’t- her performance will carry the show. |
| When Beanie first got the role I remember reading that Beanie had played the lead in a Funny Girl revival somewhere else and was a hit. Was that not true or am I misremembering? When she first got the role, there was a lot of positive press about how great she would be and how it was such an interesting and filled-with-possibilities choice -- along with a lot of sour grapes posts about how mad Lea Michele must be. |
Never heard she was in a Funny Girl Revival prior to the Broadway one, just a supporting role to Midler in Dolly. |
| Have you seen the trailer for the Seth Rogen comedy where she plays a crude sorority girl? She needs to steer clear of these roles if she wants to be taken seriously. |
Her family probably paid for that press. |
She is an absolute thriver |
She had a Funny Girl-themed party for her 3rd birthday. |
Nooooooo 😂 This is just pathetic. Her parents bought her a Broadway show? What’s next - re-enacting her bat mitzvah theme on-screen? |
Someone will write a Broadway musical just for her and it will be a smash! |
| Nepotism with average ability does not cut it for leading roles on Broadway or major movies or TV roles. Beanie would not have been chosen as even an understudy for that role without her connections because she lacked the Voice. Julie Benko, her understudy, had the Voice. |

I don’t even understand this idea of trying a “new version” of Funny Girl that departs from past performances.
If you want to do a “new version,” get Lin Miranda to rewrite all the music in a new style and use a diverse POC cast. But to cast a mediocre actress with no singing chops on a major Broadway production is just a horrible idea. I wonder how much her parents invested in the show? |
Exactly. It was a vanity project for Beanie and her family. |
| Now she has tonsillitis and will miss even more shows. |
Smells like BS. She’s done. |
