what a dick! |
Sometimes people want another school for reasons other than academics. |
And this whole discussion is premised on using fraud to accomplish it. |
No, the cheaters and liars are the “dicks.” |
Nah, not anymore in Montgomery County. Anyone go follows the rules is a chump. Do what is best for your family, whether that means living here undocumented or committing residency fraud. Rules are for fools. |

I don't think "rules are for fools". I also don't believe it's right for someone to claim they live somewhere when they don't.
However, if someone rents out a room, is able to rest your head there, receive mail there, I would argue it's not fraud. Whether or not you exercise your right to sleep here or there is no one's business but your own, not a school's. There are many families in strife right now. Many children sleeping with relatives or at a friends house due to their own home situation. If MCPS wants to involve themselves into a family's private affairs like that, I think that's a morally worse thing than a family seeking a good education for their children but can't afford it. But that's not the real issue here. You have to look at why someone would claim to live in a different address to attend a different school. I believe this is an indication of how MCPS at the top levels failed to provide safe, academic opportunities equally for all students at all schools and is a sign that the solutions offered by MCPS need to change. No child should be denied entry into a program they qualify for and want. MCPS has ample resources, yet seems to spend money on everything but. Teachers are drawn to great school systems and great schools. Pride comes from inspiring students who reshape the world. MCPS seems to have lost its way. It's a sad state of affairs. |
As long as you live there over 50% of the time sure it's legit; otherwise, it's also fraud. |
