are the STA college admits this year as dismal as they appear?

Aren't Sidwell and GDS bigger school so therefore they may have "better" chances of getting into certain schools by sheer number? Are you nervous that your son won't get into a "good" school because you think he is on par with some of these seniors? Schools and colleges go in trends so do you even know that people applied to the many schools that you listed? If anything, take this information and learn from it. Let's say you want your child to go to Michigan - why don't you ask the CCO if any kids applied to Michigan and got in but made other choices? What you are doing is seriously unkind but also unclear what your motives are.

Pretty sure it is NOT an STA parent. OP said they looked up the social media of all kids at 4 different schools. If it is a parent, I guess they have a right as much as anyone to ask these questions if it is true.

I don't think it is an STA parent either but if it is they a right to ask and you can't ask these types of questions at school. You just can't.

why would you need to ask? STA publishes matriculation of the graduating class every year over the summer. Just wait and see the numbers instead of believing some random crackpot on DCUM.

Do you think those lists are accurate? My kid attends a Big3 (I'm not going to name which one) and the list published in the school magazine this past year was definitely doctored to omit some less prestigious schools. I was actually really surprised.
I know for a fact the kids are attending the less prestigious schools because I know the kids (they did not make a last minute switch or anything like that) but their colleges were mysteriously absent from the school's published list.
I'm sure this makes these kids feel terrible--i.e. their own high school is embarrassed by them. This entire (college) process has just gone off the rails.

considering the obsession of the OP is with the 'top' schools, I think even a doctored list removing less prestigious schools would satiate her. but i've never added up the numbers on the list and matched it to the number of graduating seniors (also listed). i have no reason to believe that it isn't accurate.

I do not buy this. In this day and age if a school did that they’ll would be in the news.

Huh? So the local news cares that GDS/NCS/Sidwell/STA omitted some SEC (or similar) admits in their alumni magazine?
Lol.
These schools are not that important.

Which is fine. But the rest isn't good either.
There are a handful of Chicagos and a couple of other top 30 schools and then bam--the bottom falls out. Lots of kids going to school ranked 50-100. (Then there are a bunch of kids that don't have anything posted on Instagram yet).
What happened? I can't find ANY admits to places like Michigan, UCLA, Williams, Rice, Penn, Georgetown, Stanford, Hopkins, Wash U, Emory, Bowdoin, Wash and Lee and on and on. Most of the half-decent admits (Pomona, Colgate) are athletic recruits. It really appears that almost all the non-athletes are going to schools ranked 50+.
GDS and Sidwell seem to be having very good years. NCS is doing ok (not as good as GDS and Sidwell from what I can tell).
Is this STA class just not strong academically? Am I missing something?

Pomona is not “half decent”. It is far above UCLA, Rice, Wash U., Emory, etc and harder to get admitted into than Williams is. Colgate and Pomona are nothing alike. You don’t seem to know much about how these schools compare so your opinion means little.

Admits rates don't mean anything. Pomona is a fine school but the schools mentioned are certainly comparable. To suggest otherwise is silly.

You really don't know Pomona if you think it is comparable to Wash U and Emory and UCLA. I am not talking about admit rates as proof, that's just a point of reference that people without personal experience knowing those who teach at these schools (and have taught undergrad at multiple colleges, etc and thereby know the caliber of the average undergrad student across different schools) can understand. You are right those numbers don't always correlate with which schools are better between two schools. It's simple math after all.

The kids may not have submitted to the list.

The PP seems to be confusing Pomona with Occidental.
