| So many sorry a$$es here! |
| Those of you who are speaking insultingly of Undergraduate Business major and Business students, could you mention what your major was and what major your DC(s) pursuing/pursued. Thank you. |

"I’m a high school teacher, and have worked at several top independent schools. The kids who intend to major in Business for undergrad are, across the board, less intelligent than kids who choose hard STEM majors. Actually, the (rich, don’t need to make $) kids who choose Art History, English, Classics, or similar also tend to be more intelligent and driven than the Business majors.
To summarize, the smartest kids who need to work for money don’t choose Business, but tend toward STEM. The smartest kids who do not need to work for money also avoid Business, in favour of things like Art History, Classics, English, or similar. Business is a bro degree. I’m sorry, but it is." I'm OP, and this person expressed what I feel about it better than I did. |
You can get into Marshall pretty easily from the College of Arts and Sciences |
In general, Business major is more competitive and higher stats. Hard to switch major in to Business, but the other way is easier. |
All the parents and the so called “smart students” the teacher mentions put their trust and their inherited wealth in the hands of business majors and MBAs. Lucky for them, their forefathers earned their wealth. Art history and classics are a big joke. I would rather respect artists and writers than those who study art history and classics. What will they do with their degrees? Work as tour and museum guides? Oh, the teacher above wrote that such students don’t have to work for their living. They will waited with bated breadth and count days until they will get their inheritance. |
| Hi Op, don’t want to answer what your major was and what your DC(s) major(ed) in? |
|
| My financial advisor was a pre-med who did an MBA after getting her degree in bio or something like that at Mt. Holyoke. So no. We are dissing on undergrad business majors, not people who got an MBA from a decent school. |
I see. So, the only worthy degree holders in this world are: - STEM degree holders; and - Rich kids who don't need to work and major in basket weaving. And the rest are "bros." That's classist, and ignorant in so many ways. Reminds me of folks who say how stupid or useless it is to learn Spanish. Who would ever use that? Like I don't know, go outside. |
I did Ph.D. In engineering and full-time MBA Finance major. I know people who did Undergrad Business with Finance major/concentration. So I know the value of MBA as well as that of Undergrad Business. I encourage people who are good at math/quant and not interested in engineering to strongly consider Undergrad Business. |
So, a pre-med who couldn’t pull off MD did MBA and you trust her financial advice! Her quant skills can’t be too great compared to an engineer with an MBA with Finance major. Time for you to shop around for a real financial advisor. |
You had me at high school teacher - not the sharpest tool in the shed. They teach because they can’t. The OP is asking this because they are jealous, pure and simple. |
That’s how I feel about professors, too. |
| No wonder so many parents are pissed off all of the time. They have such disdain for teachers and it shows. I'd love to see parents try to teach. |
